Trailer slide

I am currently looking for a new trailer and the new designs have the refrigerator in the slide. My husband is uncomfortable with it. I had a blow out with my last trailer and the damage took out and electrical wire . It was the light over table . Slide still worked fine . Anyone have an issue with the propane lines or wires?

We had a refer in the slide once. Never again. Makes the slide too heavy. JHMO

How do you know it makes the slide too heavy?

A refrigerator alone, in a slide designed to carry it, won't make the slide too heavy. All the other "stuff" stored in the slide will however.

Hmmm. My slide-out has the dinette which seats 4 people and the refrigerator plus two storage areas under the dinette benches. I would hope they designed my slide-out to hold like 1,500 lbs.

The slide had the refer, a panty closet, and a couch. The slide failed twice and needed the dealer to fix it.

Will probably hold 1,500 lbs while extended however:

A Refer around 115#, four people (average US Male 197#) ~800# and another couple hundred pounds of "stuff" comes to about 1200# on the extended slide.

I seriously doubt that any slide was designed to be operated with four people sitting around if for no other reason than load on the motor when being operated.

The refrigerator itself is mounted on the inboard side of the slide and only contributes a small amount of weight to the overhang.
