That's the way it works. Commonly noted issue. I've seen it discussed many times and the manufacturer said they were looking at ways to handle. From the way it was stated, we won't see the feature for a while. System poles the sensors every 15 or 20 minutes as I recall. However, the sensor will send an immediate message if tire pressure drops quickly.
My take, the power required for continuous notifications to enable immediate notification on loss of signal would kill the batteries fairly quickly. You might need to replace them on, say, a monthly basis.
