Wall separation / Cracking

I have a 2022 Cedar Creek 377BH. Both rear slides (one on each side ) have cracks on the top forward corners extending toward the roof.
The walls on the inside are splitting as well.
Have an appointment to take it in, but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced anything like this? This is my third RV and first time with a wall crack, let alone two.

Welcome to the forum!

You're doing the right thing by taking it in to be looked at. I don't think that's normal.

I’ve had it happen on a 2017 SOB (some other brand), I discovered it around May of 2020, the location was above our main slide, we also had the cracking inside like you show, ours was pretty straight though.

It ended up being a broken weld in the aluminum stud for the wall structure, we were out of warranty but they agreed to fix it and I was responsible for transportation both ways. I took it back to Elkhart in October 2020 and it was repaired at the factory service center under good faith.

I assume you are still under warranty being that you have a 2022.

Agreed. I've seen damage like this before and a bad frame was the source of that one.

Well, fingers crossed. I found it 6 days after warranty. Clearly it didn’t happen overnight. I’m hoping they stand behind the unit and make it right.

Pjones, how long did it take the repairs to be completed in your case? Just curious. My dealer is 4 hours away. Bringing it up this weekend. I have a feeling it will need to go to IN for repairs like yours did.

Sorry, I didn’t get a notification on this thread, turnaround time was right at a week

Called the dealership today, since I haven’t heard anything since I dropped it off. As everyone eluded, they are sending it back to the factory for repair. FR is closed this week so they plan on making the arrangements next week. Will keep the group posted.

The week came and went. Yesterday I got an email, thinking it would be that FR is picking up the unit. Instead, they asked for more pictures of the same area. It’s been at the dealer for a month now.
Will keep the thread posted.

Got the call from FR today. They are doing the repairs as Goodwill. They are arranging transport from the dealership to the factory this week. They will start working on it next week! That’s pretty quick being December.

Going on month 3 without the rig, they finished the work and sent it back. I had the delivery driver meet me at the local truck stop on Monday. When I got there, did a walk around and both cracks are back. Had to refuse delivery and send it back to FR.
They are going to have Lippert come out to inspect the frame before they do anything else.
More news to come.

So you brought it to the dealer to correct the cracks. They said they completed the repair and you got it back with the same cracks. If so, could you share the name of the dealer?

It’s actually at the factory in Indianna. The dealer sent it to Cedar Creek for the repairs. They fixed the cracks, but they cracked again on the way back to me.

I wonder how the factory supposedly fixed the cracks? I’m assuming you saw the cracks were new, and not your same ones in the photos you posted at the beginning.

Funny thing is, I thought they were the same ones. FR swore up and down they were fixed and had pictures. Clearly the underlying issue persists. Whatever caused the first cracks caused these.
They just did a fiberglass repair. They didn’t replace the exterior wall. I hope this doesn’t drag on.
Here are pics of the new cracks.

What a shame!

You are absolutely correct... they fixed the cracks but not the underlying repair.

Best of luck.

I’ve heard of other Cedar Creek owners praising their service with customers.
I’d see if you can get a hold of someone in AUTHORITY at Cedar Creek to review what EXACTLY they have done with your rig so far, what they plan next, and when you can expect your rig back. If it’s actually being fixed “on their dime” there should be detailed outlines of time, parts and labour so they get it right THIS time.

Be polite but firm, and always have your VIN available to confirm the vehicle.
