Since I have plenty of scrap screen left over from re-screening the back porch, I'm going to screen everything with a hole.
Don't use the fiberglass screen material on the water heater and furnace vents, else you may have ignition! Any wire type screen will work just fine. I used aluminum screen wire and hot glue on the refrigerator and just the screen wire on all the other vents.

Be careful with the wasp spray around any open flames .... you don't need a flame thrower! When you are done, you should blow out all those passages with compressed air before reassembly. No point in saving the wasp corpses and associated debris.

Wasp spray

It was mentioned that wasp spray could damage plastic parts. Try carb spray. It evaporates instantly, and kills wasps just as fast. Hint from an engineer friend...

Wasps in vent

Try carb spray instead of wasp spray. Wasp spray is sticky, carb spray isn’t. It evaporates instantly, and kills wasps just as fast. That may keep from damaging plastic parts...I still can’t figure out why wasps and chiggers were created in the first place. Love honeybees, don’t even mind dirt dobbers, but those red wasps are just plain mean. Chiggers are useless except for making people miserable! WHY?!?! 🙄

Last time I found a wasp nest in my furnace vent I fired up the furnace.

Took care of that nest in a flash!

Wasp nest in heater vent

What we have been doing is putting a cat flea collars in the areas where mudwasps and other bugs might like nest. So far it's worked as I haven't seen any in there. Good luck
