What are these pieces?

2005 Lexington 255 GTS:

Just purchased this MH and found these 2 pieces in the compartment above the sofa. What are they for and how do they go?

Is that just a protective wrap on them? It almost looks like curtain valances that were replaced over one of the windows. Can't really tell though. What are they made of (wood, metal)??

They are what dimensionally appear to be about 2x4 sized wood 43 inches long covered with a padded vinyl the same type and color as the sofa. The ‘tabs’ sticking out from the side of each piece are approximately 3.5x4 pieces of thin metal with mitered corners. They are definitely not valances and don’t look to be ‘homemade’

Just a guess, could they be a spacer that would go under each end if you wanted the couch to sit a little higher?

Possibly, as the sofa (convertible to an open up bed) is in the slide out and doubles as the seat for the table. And the table top is a bit high for comfortable eating .....

If they are simply to raise the sofa, why isn’t the sofa permanently raised, why are they so nicely upholstered, and how are they installed.

When you turn the sofa into a bed, you pull out the arm rests and replace them with these filler pieces. You will see where the tabs go when you remove the arms. My MH has the same couch.

On our 283 GTS you pull the arm pieces straight up to remove. Your mystery pieces go in after you flip the couch to make the bed flat.

Again, thank y’all..... even though it didn’t make sense, I kinda sorta wish that they were somehow used to raise the sofa
