Saved by the TPMS
Valve stem failure, no damage to tire, already saved $125.

When that happened to me I just called State Farm and they took care of it with no questions asked.

I don't understand why the Manufacturers can't design the wheel wells with tough durable thick metal to stop damage or minimize it. I know its a weight concern but wouldn't it be worth it?

Yes, they have a concern about the extra weight but more concern about the extra $15 it would cost. They would need another 'craftsman' to install it,, no any body would do.

I don't have TPMS on the motor home...yet. I do have a harbor freight infrared temperature gauge, one of the handheld pistol grip ones. At each stop I check temp of all tires. If one is losing air the temp will normally be higher so if they are all about the same temp I consider them OK. Can also check the bearings on our cargo trailer to see if they are ever getting warm.

Man, a lot of stuff here...

1) My W&P has metal fender wells and damage to my trailer from blowout was limited to the thin metal of the fuels station and the fuel hose being dragged. No damage to skirt or siding

2) I always run full psi and never over 65. Tire date code says they were right at 3yrs old.

3) speed limit here is 80 on interstate. Wife had a lady pass her towing an RV the other day. A mile later the lady was in the ditch. Luckily she didn't roll and everybody was unhurt. Hopefully a lesson was learned.

Seek out an RV collision repair center that deals with insurance. My fender well replacement was covered under my insurance policy.
