Where are the battery trays?

My Evo has a battery tray welded to the A-frame that's barely big enough to hold two group 24s or two GC2s. I'm thinking about going to four GC2s as we boondock almost exclusively, but that would require a bigger tray. I could always have one fabricated and welded on, but does anyone know of a ready made solution that would bolt to the A-frame? Heck, I can't even find one for 1 or 2 batteries that's a production item, and that seems odd to me.

You will probably have to have one fabricated for you, try a local welding shop

I built one out of a pressure treated 2X10 and figured I'd just use it a while to see if it works OK. Painted it black so it didn't stand out like a sore thumb and next year I'll break out the welder and fab one a little more "refined".

Here's a pic

The wood is secured with two truck deck screws that are #12 self drill/tap on each end. The enclosure in the center is for a Blue Sea Battery Selector Switch (Off-One-Two-Both, 300 Amp). that was $32 at West Marine.

Since I already had two batteries stolen off my old trailer (right out of my back yard) I secured these with two Master "Python" cable locks. Cables are passed through two holes drilled in battery box lids so cables are snug against battery case. Even if you break the lid off you can't get enough slack to slide the batteries out from under the cables. Cables pass through a hole drilled in the wood on one side and a pair of screw eyes on the other (board not wide enough for hole ) and pass around the welded in battery rails under the frame. The cable locks merely need to be loosened to their "bitter ends" so the lids can be tipped up for battery service.

Found a Plastic utility box I'll incorporate into the welded frames I build next season that will provide some more beauty to the setup but this is very functional. Battery switch will eventually be moved inside as I put together some #6 wires and connectors to upgrade the entire 12V feed to and from the Converter and inverter mounted next to it.

BTW, the batteries are two Group 29 Deep Cycle 12V.

Nicely done! Obviously I'm looking for something more permanent, but I'm no less impressed.

Thank you

Other than the stigma of "wood", this could be quite permanent. Pressure treated so it should last 8-10 years (I hope I last that long ). I just wanted to do some prototyping before committing to welded metal.

I fabricated one for my last trailer. That bolted on top of the existing battery holder. When I sold the trailer I removed it and went back to a single battery. Then used it on new trailer. Along with the solar panels that came from old camper.

You might find one of these that would suit your need. These are for marine use which are generally larger batteries.

I appreciate the link. I'm still not seeing a 4- battery tray. Did I miss it?

Looks like 2 is the limit unless they could either be stacked or side-by-side.
