Where to put inverter

Hey wondering where everyone suggests I install my inverter. 2017 Wolf pup BHS. It's the 1100 w Canadian Tire one, just small but i don't need much. i have two batteries hooked up and the inverter says to keep the cables under 5' from the batteries.
I was originally going to place it on the left side of the wall i built but the manual says to keep it away from and gas/water etc. The water heater should never leak gas or water but i guess you never know.
The two compartments on the right I have full usually but i guess i could have it there and cover it with some sort of cage.
Am I being too worried about the water heater? Or should i just use the space to the right? The black box usually just carries my little BBQ because there is nowhere else to put it.
Opinions appreciated

If necessary you can go farther than 5'. You will just need to use LARGER wire. Since you indicated that your inverter is an 1100W model it will draw just under 100 amps at full load. Wire size is calculated by Amperage and distance.

Here's a calculator that works great for sizing wires based on current and distance:

https://www.wirebarn.com/Wire-Calculator-_ep_41.html

When using this calculator remember that in a DC circuit wire length is essentially twice the "as the crow flies" distance as power has to travel to and from the device from the battery. Using the largest size readilly available, 2/0 or 00 wire, you can run 100 amps to an inverter 17 feet from the batteries.

You can also double up smaller gauge wires as that's usually more flexible than the "garden hose sized" 2/0 wire.

For example two #2 awg wires will each carry 50 amps the same distance with a 2% voltage drop.

Obviously the closer the better but this is just an example of how far you might be able to go from batteries.

FWIW, I installed two battleborn batteries inside my TT. I have a large space above my batteries. My plan is to install a 2,000 watt inverter on a shelf above the batteries so I'll only need a 2' piece of 4 gauge minimum although I'll probably use some leftover 2/0 wire.
