Window Shade stuck down

2022 Salem Hyper-Lyte. Evidently I pulled the window shade down too far, and now it won't roll up. There is still tension in the spring - I can feel it, but something is failing to release to let it roll back up.

I figured I would take it apart - but I can't for the life of me figure out how the trim is attached to the wall. Nothing is visible, and I can't feel anything on the inside.

Anyway - any tips ? Either to roll it up or get it to release. If all else fails, it's under warranty.

You don’t say what type of shade but if it is a slow roll shade by Irvine you might try this.

On one end there is a roller wheel that just sets the shade height. The other end has a roller wheel that sets the tension.

Do not adjust tension as it is probably pretty tight but you might want to turn the roller wheel, that will raise the shade. Raise the shade 6” or so and then maybe you can pull it down until the release point is reached.

You can reduce the tension with the other roller wheel.

I don’t know which end is which on your setup but the wheel that adjusted height is pretty obvious as there will be no tension and the shade will just start to wind up on the shade roller when you turn it… good luck..

Yes - it is a roller shade. I tried what you suggested, but it won't move.

It was our Maiden voyage, so I will just add it to the list of stuff they need to fix.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Shade issues

Did you get an answer to removing the roller? I'm in the exact same situation i.e. I can't get the roller out.

I usually can get a couple fingers on the roller to grip it and slightly turn it
WHILE pulling down on the blind with the other hand, even if blind fully extended you can just take up a tiny bit of tension.

GENTLY... don't force anything

then release BOTH at same time.

Takes a couple times of practice to get the right tension etc but eventually it rolls back up

We had several with this issue from the start, and some more that developed. The factory replaced them while it was there for repairs, but no sooner than it came back that another one failed like this. In my efforts to get it to work, I broke the stop. Now it has the opposite issue...it won't stay down. So I ended up drilling a hole in the center rail, and I put a string loop through it, then ran a small screw in the bottom window trim. Now you just pull it down and loop it closed. It actually works so well I half wish the others were broken this way. lol
