I got an email yesterday from my salesman (Chad) at Total Value RV in Elkhart. He said that they are getting one in January. I will be going there to check it out when it arrives. Can't wait. Will fill all in with details.

Actually CC, the XLT is specifically targeting the Dutch Star. It's my understanding that the Charleston is targeting even bigger game

Rich,

GAAAH! they musta had a production delay. Dave told us 2 weeks ago they were expecting their first XLT "any day now." Louisville must have set the Diesel division back.

Looking at other posts the one thing I hope Total RV will do is load up the Berk with a full 150 GAL of Diesel, full FWT & Propane and take it to a scale.

Please DO post picts Rich - will really like to see a XLT out in the wild instead of at the factory

BB, the XLT would have to have a lot of huge upgrades that my 390 doesn't have to compete with the Dutch Star. The DS MSRP is around $430K. I been inside lots of them, lots of Newmar Ventanas also. I haven't seen an XLT yet so we shall see.

I've been inside a few Charlestons also. They don't compete with a Dutch Star IMO.

2016 Tag Axle Berk

One of the biggest differences would be the DS is all electric. The AquaHot is almost mandatory on a Moho in that price range.
I understand the Charleston will have AquaHot for 2017?

I don't know if I would like AquaHot, I read about a lot of problems with it. And the maintenance is expensive. My DW loves propane for cooking also. So having an all electric coach would not work for us.

2016 Tag Axle Berk

RVT.com has a 2016 berk tag on their website. Looks nice but definitely not even close to a dutch star!! The Dutch star's have the new two stage full length roof awnings!! That alone is huge! IMO!

The XLT may evolve over a few years to Dutch Star status, but for now, it's not even close.

The Ventana is it's competition in the 43' tag models.

Jason

I've got to go along with some earlier posts and say that the Berk tag (XLT) comparison is more in line with the Ventana than the Dutch Star. This is my comparison basis
2016 Newmar Ventana 4037, Class A - Diesel RV For Sale in Orlando-Winter Garden, Florida | Independence RV 8736 | RVT.com - 108625 Moving the Berk up in price range will make for greater scrutiny. One of the strong points of the Berk to many of us was the price to standard amenities ratio. I wonder what the new strategy will be? Anyway, I'm still extremely interested in this new offering.
