nope,
Was a nice day on I-95, and I lost track of how fast I was going. Needle on speedometer was buried (85 mph), so I checked my GPS, which showed 168 km/hr.
105 km/hr is about 65 mph. I can do that up hill.

You might want to check the speed rating on your tires. They may be rated to 75 MPH.

Not to mention that in most states 105 in a 75 zone is a felony. Careful out there.

I do love the power. There’s a couple of 8% grades South of Pittsburgh. The Beast will walk away from most trucks on that hill.
Our 40E is a dream to drive. The 380HP Cummins and the Allison 3000 deserve an engineering award. Smooth an powerful. I find myself driving flat footed most of the time Using the cruise control and the engine brake to control speed. Timely application on an off-ramp and you can count on the engine brake to slow you to the exit speed before the turn rarely needing a touch on the brake until you want to stop. Running down the road in Economy mode will decrease performance slightly but gave us 8.3 mpg on the way to Elkhart and back to Maryland even when using the performance mode on on-ramps and steep grades. Not bad for a 38000 pound vehicle! With the air-ride suspension it’s like a magic carpet on wheels. There may be a newer model in our future just so we can have the adaptive cruise control.

As was mentioned, in Texas 20 over the posted gets you a free ride in a police car, a night in jail, vehicle impounded and not released until trial date and in a lot of the smaller towns you’ll spend 6 months in a county lock up and a $5,000 fine.

Get it tuned and you can get rid of the governor. Mine too was stuck at 75, sucks when you want to pass someone that’s doing 74. With the tune I set it to 105, I could’ve altogether removed it, but I wanted to keep some responsibility on my end!

Speed
I see 85 MPH all the time to get away from trucks on hills as they do the roller coaster thing. I get tired of passing them on every hill!! You need to be sure your toad is capable of handling that speed though, many can not.

Getting the speed limit raised is a nice idea. I also like the helwig front and rear swaybars for those Ford F-50 truck bodies. It changes the ride from white-knuckle to white-glove and fingertip control.

The brand is excellent but as far as the motor and possible DEF related issues I would strongly recommend you stay with the gas models. Been through two pushers and both were nothing but one DEF issue after another. One time caused a 3k towing bill while still under supposed warranty with Freightliner but when they found out if was DEF related they washed their hand and blamed Cummins who in turn blamed Freightliner. Needless to say almost 2 years later still out 3k. Going to trade in for a gasser and save myself all the aggravation and over 2 bucks a gallon in fuel price as wel as DEF cost.
