After having our new rig for less than 2 months, we damaged our tailpipe when backing down an incline to the street
Berkshire has this flared turndown diffuser and chrome cover priced at $825 (Part #10F15621A) plus we would need to have it installed
Does anybody have any ideas how we can get this fixed for less money??
I'm sure we will damage this again in the near future.......
I would just use pliers
Take it to a muffler shop for advice and maybe an easy fix. I bet they will come up with a much cheaper alternative.
Berkshire is just price gouging.....

I replaced this piece on my 34qs two months ago. Ordered the part from Freightliner cost $30/35 dollars. Tell them you want the chrome one not the diamond studded one with the gold inlaid. You can put it on yourself.

$825???!!!!! That's right up there with the $700 the MBZ dealership charged for the first basic oil and filter change on my Sprinter. I guess they figure if we're rich enough to afford a nice RV they can continue to charge us a premium price for the simplest things.
I did not read the post correctly. The part I replaced was the extension for the generator exhaust, not the engine exhaust downturn. The $147.00 part shown looks like the real deal.

Just go to a Freighliner truck dealer, many of them have them in stock, a common part and certainly not even close to $800. Nothing complicated about that part, just a bolt on tail pipe end. I bent mine a few years back, was easy to change.

Does the metal get too hot because it is not a 2-layered system like the one I bent?
Do you have any "after" pictures?
Thanks!
I am not having any luck on line, Freightliner parts on line catalog is not the best. However, if you are anywhere near a Freightliner dealer they can help find one. My nearest dealer now is hundreds of miles unfortunately.

I followed the advice from captnrick3 and called a Freightliner dealer and got a description Freightliner Exhaust Diffuser Assembly and a part number A04-26965-000
I put the description in a Google search and came up with a match from TruckLiner Parts "Minor Cosmetic Blemishes - Some Scuffs/ Scratches - Not In Original Packaging" for $171.20!!! It should be here in a few days.
Today I removed the 2 bolts that holds the diffuser tip to the exhaust pipe. Easy!!! I expect the replacement to take 10 minutes when I get it!! My local RV dealer was going to charge me $825 for the Forest River part and about $200 to install it!! Looks like it will cost me $171.20
