zb39....

Beautiful up here for sure but just about the craziest weather we’ve ever experienced.....

Elevation is really working on wife’s blood pressure.... Been to hospital 4 different times - so far!!!

Hopefully that will level out soon.....

Will they ever finish this? Whaen we were there several years ago they claimed to be self funded. That's why it's taking so long to finish. Even turned down fed. money as to not be obligated to anything. I fully understand and appreciate that. But always wondered why they couldn't accept money from the casinos?

Adventure 2020

Casino don’t make money!! They advertise they pay back 92%. [emoji23][emoji23]

Hard to think monument not doing it right. Crowds stopping by every day my guess.

Crazy Horse is 100% funded from donations and fees charged....

Feds have tried twice to “get their foot in the door” by offering $10M grants.... Wisely, they were both turned down....

Many folks don’t understand why they can’t either hike or drive their cars to the carving.... Obviously being an active construction zone, insurance won’t allow that....

Unless you’ve actually “been to the top” it’s difficult to understand the amount of work being done daily ....

Last week, a “piece” of granite 4’ thick, 6’ wide and 18’ long was removed.... Estimated weight - 200 tons.....

It’s also hard to visualize the actual scope of the carving - i.e. - the pointing finger will be 30’ long and 10’ in diameter.....

New milestone - I’ve now been to the top of the Memorial a total of 20 times....

Gets more awesome each time as I watch them remove more and more Granite......

Well our adventure here at Crazy Horse is coming to an end after 2 months....

Our original plans had both of us working here for abt 4 months but wife’s health (Parkinson’s) wouldn’t let her work after all...

After her staying in the MH alone all day 5 days a week, we’ve decided that we need to move on because she wasn’t having a fun summer....

Monday we head into WY and ID for a couple of months before turning south into CO fit a while....

Sorry to hear about your wife's health issues. Maybe a change in scenery will help.

I am so sorry to hear Miss Tommie is feeling poorly. Please keep us posted and let us know if you need any help once you reach your next location. We have Berkshire owners all over this country and Canada so I am sure we can find someone to lend a hand!
Have a safe trip!

Sorry to hear that your wife has health challenges and that they affect your travel. Find a nice place to visit.

Canada would be nice, but the Canada-US Border is essentially closed for non-essential travel. We're stuck here and you are stuck there. It hurts your summers and our winters!

Ernest. Sorry to hear Tommie is not doing as well as you hoped. We can fully understand her being confined to the motorhome as very uncomfortable. We are not traveling this summer and staying at home. Stay safe and healthy.

Stopped here in Bar Nunn, WY (near Casper) about an hour short of where we had planned....

The 45+mph winds were absolutely NO FUN so we stopped at the KOA for the night....

ALSO - having a little issue with coach overheating (with warning buzzer)....

Lots of hill climbing today plus high 90’s temps all attributed to issue I believe...

I could pull over and let engine idle for a few minutes and buzz would stop and gauge would drop to normal...

I failed to “gear down” as I climbed and relied on engine to shift itself which most likely contributed to the issue as well....

Coolant level is full and no leaks anywhere.... Had radiator steam cleaned about 10 months ago and coach has been sitting in 3 different CG’s for a total of about 7 months....

Going to hit road earlier in the AM before temps climb plus winds are predicted to be in the 7-9mph range.....

Plan on trying to keep rpm’s around 2,000 by downshifting as needed.....

Did Casper to Cody in that high wind once. We were trying to make the Cody nightly rodeo or I’d pulled over also. I had to put tarp straps on my awnings. They kept getting air in them. Trying to make us fly I guess.

Had a transmission overheat going over the Bighorns once. Just need to slow down and gear down and keep the RPM up. Run cooler that way. Stay safe.

Thanks Russell.....

I plan on manually tweaking the transmission tomorrow..... I failed to do any of that today so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day....

I haven’t had to do that in a long time BUT most all these roads require climbing of some sort....

Fingers crossed as we try to go from Casper to Dubois.....

I've hit high winds (up to 60 mph) on I-25 in Montana, Colorado and Wyoming. They required lightly loaded semis to park at the side of the road. We saw one that was overturned. But, I pressed on, so that I could see the Formula 1 race in Austin.

The winds caused my slide toppers to billow. One finally jammed and I had to cut it off with a pair of scissors. The problem is that the slide toppers were installed with too-little spring tension, compared to the Carefree documentation. I documented the whole saga and solution at https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...da-130813.html
