Agree totally. I have a portable, 3 gal. compressor from Lowes that I take everytime we go out to check tires before leaving campground. It doesn't take much space and is fairly light weight. What I do to be safe is release the air in the tank before storing it and dis-connecting the hose. It also gets rid of any moisture collected in the tank.

Boo we have a storage yet. Ideally it all would have been gone but when the house sold the buyers wanted immediate possession. So lots went into storage. We have sold all the furniture and all my big tools but still have forty plus years of stuff. All of it together isn't worth what we pay to rent the storage.

Curious - is there an adjustable low pressure setting on these pumps that would keep your pressure up where u want it? If there was, could you reset while you inflate tire, and then return to proper setting for brakes/bags/etc?

No it's air for a tow truck to hook up to the Berkshire's air brakes. It just has several uses.

Accumack, in a previous thread about this air chuck somebody said that if a towing company tried to air up the brakes using this chuck it doesn't work.

A tow truck MAY (meaning I don't know one way or the other) be able to release the parking break by energizing that air fitting, but I had to have a semi towed and the guy had to crawl under the back of the rig (near the rear axle) and mechanically release the brakes from there.

As as aside, I still laugh about it, but the tow truck owner, his son and a "flunky" towed me back to their yard, then proceeded to get into a huge argument. It culminated in the guys son chasing the "flunky" all around the yard, swinging a 4 foot 2x4!! It was scary then, but funny as hell now (in retrospect)!!!

Moral.... If you ever need towed in Zanesville, Ohio.......

Be afraid..... BE VERY AFRAID!!!

Just took delivery on the Viair 450P. Impressive piece of engineering...all metal; includes a 35' air hose, in-line pressure gage, 12' DC power cord, kit bag and accessories. Max pressure is 145psi + or - 5psi. Best price online three weeks ago was $242.16 from "GoAiring" (free shipping).

I got this idea from camp freightliner. The air compressor kicks on around 100-110 psi (I believe) so if you need to inflate greater than that, you need to dump some air and go below that threshold so that the compressor kicks on. The valve on this contraption allows you to start dumping to get the compressor to kick.
