Allison Transmission filter change

I note that I am due for a transmission filter change on my 2011 Berk 390QS.

Has anyone done this and is it a difficult procedure? I checked around on Youtube and didn't find any tutorials.

Screw it off and replace with new. Because of the positioning of the filter no oil will leak out.

If you do have a spin on trans filter.
Change it every oil change.
For the cost of the filter, and a splash of fluid, it's good insurance!

I have read this thread and not seen a complete answer. It is very easy.

If you have the 2500 transmission the filter simply spins on under the transmission. As stated before you will only loose the fluid in the filter. Look under the coach and you will see the filter.

If you have a 3000 transmission there are two filters. They are under two caps that must be removed on the bottom of the transmission. Again you should not loose any fluid. Remove the caps, take out the old filters and replace with new.

You might wand to run the back wheels up on boards. DO NOT WORK UNDER COACH UP ON ITS JACKS. if hydraulics fall you are dead.

To the rest of you why not answer the guys question rather than respond with all the bickering??

Great information silver.

If the Allison 2500/3500 spin on filter is similar to the Allison 1000, you may see a magnetic doughnut stuck to the spin on filter when removed. If not check the bottom of the trans where the filter sits.
Do not throw this away! Clean and replace with new filter.

The two internal filters on my 3000MH are under a bolt-on plate. The nasty thing is that the sealing is done by old-fashioned flat gaskets, not the more modern o-rings. I changed the filters after 3 years, and spent most of the day removing the gaskets. Spray on some gasket remover, wait 20 minutes, carefully remove a bit of loose material. Repeat and repeat. Not fun.

The bottom line here is that you should probably not attempt an internal filter change if you are on a tight schedule, just in case you find the same setup.
