Battery boost switch

Has anyone else noticed a faint flickering glow from the battery boost switch light without the key on and the coach not running? Don't know if this is normal or an electrical glitch. None of the other switches demonstrate this behavior. It happens if I have the radio on.

I wouldn't worry. Many circuits back feed a little voltage which would make it glow.

Thanks Rrickim63. I currently have a generator that won't start so I just wanted to be sure that this wasn't related.

Mine and my buddy's does this also.

My buddy had a problem with his generator and it turned out to be a fuse in the controller board inside the generator. You may want to check the manual see where it is and check it.

Do you know if you hold the generator switch off that this primes the gen in the event that is the issue.

Silver, no prime/no noise. I'm getting a code 17 which I think is a fuel pump problem. I'm bringing it to the factory next month for my list of first year issue/repairs and will have it taken care of then.

The light glows when the batteries are 13.3 volts or above, allowing the battery isolator relay to close and both coach and chassis batteries are in parallel for charging. When battery voltage is below 13.3 volts, the relay will open so all batteries will not be discharged. Below 13.3 volts, the glow will be out and coach and chassis batteries will be isolated unless the aux start switch is closed.

Thanks. Since I keep my batteries constantly charged with battery tenders, this makes sense.

Had the same thing happen on my '08 and also on my '14. As far as I can tell, it is not a problem.

Gasman94: i have the same code 17 on my genny which also won't start- no prime or any noise at all. Thought it was fuel pump but turned out to be a software issue requiring an upload to version 2.39 to fix the 'nuisance code 17) problem. Note: Freightliner will Not do this repair. Has to be an authorized Cummins dealer. I'm stopping at one in Spartanburg, SC on my way to the factory for service and the class.

Thanks for the info. I spoke with Randy at the factory and there is a Cummins dealer in Elkhart so they will look at it when I have it in for some warranty work next month.

I'm going to be at Camp Freightliner at the end of April. When are you going?
