Battery Life

Just discovered something interesting....

Took my coach to have a few item checked out before a trip this weekend and wouldn't you know it - the start batteries "gave up the ghost" right there in the shop parking lot. (Best place for it to happen I guess). Anyway - two new batteries are now riding in the coach..,

Now the interesting part - these batteries were 2005 batteries so I definitely got my money's worth out of them ... My issue is this - I have a 2008 Berkshire do that means they put THREE YEAR OLD BATTERIES in my coach at the factory... That's pretty lame in my humble but correct opinion.

I'd suggest you guys with new/newer rigs go check the date on your batteries... I'd not want a new coach with 3 yr old batteries...

3 yrs wouldnt surprise me. Think about it, the batts come in on pallets. The battery room still has 1 or 2 pallets in the back, but the fork driver isnt going to fool around takeing them out, putting freah ones in the back row, then moveing the old stock to the front row.Same with tires. Those back row parts only get used when they are almost out of product,or the spec or modle year changes and they have to use 'em up.

Ernest,

Those I believe would be Freightliner batteries. The house batteries I believe come from Forest River. Someone correct this if they know otherwise.

Tires 2007, chassis 2008, Berkshire 2009, but the dealer put new batteries in when purchased in 2010 only becuase he knew they were shot at the time.
