Berk Door Won't Stay Open
I'm sure our entrance door used to stay open while parked. With friction or something probably from that bar across the top.
Now when I open it all the way it will kind of bounce back a little bit if I don't hold it open. Just the slightest breeze will close the door.
Any tips on the Berkshire?

Dan, mine seems to click in place and hold. Will be going to storage facility this weekend and will check it out.

Just make sure you have a extra key hiden outside your coach so you don't get locked out. Been there and done that one too many time.

Me too! 40 degrees, raining, and in my pajamas. :-)

Dan,
I saw this fix on the forum. I am not having luck finding it though. It was this past summer.

Wasn't it Phil that had the problem and fix?

My door use to close. If you look at the top of the door there is a pin that fits into the bracket that keeps the door from opening to far. I used a vice-grip pliers to squeeze where the pin goes in. Was not easy but corrected the problem. I suppose you might be able to wrap the pin with something to achieve the same results but I figured whatever I wrapped it with would just wear off.

There's a little iron spacer on that pin, it has a slit in it. Take a screw driver and pry it out a little.

That is how I have always fixed mine. Just spread the roller a bit with a flat screwdriver. I tried it last week on mine again and it seems to not be working now. Not sure what's up but will look at it later.

I see the spacer and will try that tomorrow.
I just wrapped a little duck tape on it for now.

Dan, I would advise on doing that. I pried the barrel spring and a piece dropped out. The barrel spring is high tempered and will not take bending. I had to have the total arm replaced back when I was under warranty.
I am not sure if the design has changed, but I found that the barrel spring had a rivet to the round barrel that it surrounded and that probably is where the weakest link is. I do not know of a fix other then replacing.
Not a very good design; even my new one has a mild wind, closing the door. Opening hard against the stop also shortens its life.
