Berkshire 2011 390RB60 Residential Refrigerator Conversion

I have reached to point of total frustration with the Dometic Refrigerator and am considering a Residential Refrigerator Conversion. Has anyone had success converting to a Residential Refrigerator.

Please let me know if you have converted to a Residential Refrigerator, and any obstacles you encountered.

Apparently the closest refrigerator we have been able to identify is about 5 1/2" taller than the Dometic. There is a kick plate below the existing Dometic and I am not sure if there is anything behind the kick plate that would prevent the installation of the taller Residential Refrigerator.

Any assistance would would be greatly appreciated. I am sure if I look through all of these threads I will find contact information for Randy and or Mitch.

Thanks

George

I have not converted but, something to think about , is your electric. You will need at least a 3000 watt converter and some additional batteries to run a domestic Refrig while driving down the road or you will need to run the generator.

Good luck

i did a frig conversion on a south wind, several things need to be addressed :
1. if not already equipped, a minimum 2000 w inverter.
2. 4 each 6 volt storage batteries, ( will run frig about 6 hrs)
3. remote (inside coach) inverter control panel.
4. not necessary, but I wired my new inverter into my existing intelc power management system. so I could detect
low batter power and use the auto gen start to charge frig
batteries .
5. and last but not least, find a residential refrigerator that
fits where the Norcold was. I found a 18 cub/ft Frigidaire
at home depot. getting it in the rv was a pain. we had a drivers side door, took door off and removed driver seat.
used two very large college football linemen. I’d no door,
then you will have to remove a window. good luck.
