Camp Freightliner 2

Wanted to say how impressed I was with the Camp Freightliner 2 class in Gaffney. The course is conducted in their shop while your MH is being serviced. Basically, you get 6 hours of one on one with your certified Freightliner tech while they perform your annual service (lunch included). You can walk under the coach, address any issues and ask questions all day long. I signed up for this immediately after taking Camp Freightliner in the summer as they only offer the class a few times per year during slower times. I highly recommend this for the small fee of $100 over service. Plus Gaffney gives you 10% off parts and labor in Jan & Feb plus FCOC members get an additional 5%.

CT; WoW, what a man-cave! I have taken the regular Camp Freightliner; learned a lot but wished I had the actual physical experience like you had.

I know that you cannot possibly list all that you learned, but is there some highlights of the moho service that you can comment on?

Is this only held in Gaffney? I would think there would be a Freightliner service center on the West Coast that Glenn & Darcy could attend?

Also, being a newbie to the Berk lifestyle, what is this annual maintenance you speak of and what does it typically cost?

Yet another factor to plug into the retirement budget LOL!

I have a Freightliner service center about 90 minutes away from me, but don't know if they do this. I will most definitely ask when I take the Berk in for the airbag upgrade in March.

I was getting my 2 year service done so here's what we covered.

Engine Drive Belt Inspection
Engine Oil and Filter Change (Shell Rotella 15W40 16 quarts )
Air Cleaner Replacement
Charge Air Cooler Inspection
Radiator Pressure Check (Not easy in the Berk with location of cap and metal bracket)
Throttle Pedal Pivot Pin Lubrication
Torqued all suspension fasteners
Hight Check on Air Suspension
Tie-Rod Lub and Inspection
Change Hub Oil on front wheels
Torque Wheels
Brake Inspection
Changed Fuel Filter and Fuel /Water Separator
Generator Oil and filter Change
4 Wheel Weight & PSI check (105 Front / 95 Rear).

I'm sure I missed a few items we covered also. All work is very easy with the right tools and when the RV is on the lift.

Best tips were to get your MH weighed, know and run your proper tire pressure, keep fluids to proper specifications (allison 3000 has the on board computer to keep levels in check), keep an eye on front hub oil and pull your 3 drains on your air tanks every two months immediately after driving.

Attached is a copy of the invoice defining all that was done and the cost associated with each. They did things I did not know existed or how to service them. On our "Berkshires" that's actually a pretty normal price for our service. You need to remember that these are not just normal pickup trucks, they are large motor homes on a freight liner chassis with a larger Cummins engine and Allison transmission. Our service includes all the oil, oil and fuel filters, air suspension and brakes, lube for the chassis and numerous other things. I believe the annual inspection covers over 100 items. With a MSRP of around $300K, I'll gladly spend the $500 for service to keep my motorhome running and driving smooth.

When I had a diesel pickup and fifth wheel I would usually do the maintenance myself.... Not on my Berk though!! To much $ invested!

Not to mention the genset oils and filters, air bag adjustment etc. my last inspection report had four pages of reports.

On his invoice, that was just labour.

Oils filters etc was all separate.

But as per the other thread. 5 hours at 100 bucks an hour!

Fuel filter change, Trans fluid & filter change,engine oil & filter change,coolant flush and change, chassis lube 2 months ago $1600 and change it took the better part of a full day. Not crawling around on the ground. Priceless!

I have done a few services on the f53 chassis, when I was at Ford.
Hated it.
