Can’t open battery compartment door!

How can you open a compartment door if the latch doesn’t work. I am afraid that the wire that works the two mechanisms broke.

You might try unbolting the u-bolt that acts as part of the latch. If your battery compartment is like mine and in the same relative position you can access the nuts on the u-bolt from below.

I stand corrected. That’s one of the few that can’t be accessed. I once had that issue with my wet bay door and FR was telling me to carefully bend the door. I wound up accessing it thru the sewer port.

I’m not sure how I’d do the battery compartment. Maybe something flexible so you could push the plunger up to release the latch.

Maybe something like this. It may need be reduced in width to slide between the legs of the u-bolt.

Open the door next to it and look at the bottom flange you can see into the ubolt and latch. Maybe you can slide something in thru there to open it.
Worth a try.
