Cargo Door Latches

I have a Berkshire 410QS.. The cargo bin latches are coming open when driving. We do a full walk around of the rig before we take off pull on each cargo door and lock so they won't come open. They pop open sometime in transit..we have to pull over unlock, shut then re-lock the cargo doors.. does anyone know how to adjust so they stay closed? Not to safe.. Thanks

Marialee,

Not sure how to adjust them, but before I move my unit after locking each bay door, I "hip check" each one to make sure it is locked and closed. Have never had one open. I was told to do this by the Service Tech when I did my original walk thru. That was 15,000 miles ago.

I have been fooled before. Checked them, took off and one of the darned doors came open. One day I was checking the doors and found one that I thought was closed and locked, but something made me tug a little harder on it and it came open!

Perhaps ensuring that the locks are properly lubed would help make closures more secure? I know I haven't lubed them since I bought my unit and it seemed they weren't latching easily because if that (next season will be its third season and latch lubing is on the to do list!)

Any latch lube recommendations out there?

OK, I may have an answer..looked on another site and found that the u bolt that the latch hooks onto can be adjusted by loosening the nuts on the inside to make the U bolt longer if needed. Then tighten the ones on the outside. Seemed to make the door shut tight... we will see on the trip home. Thanks..I also lubed the latches.
