Chip

Just wondering if any of you have used a programmer/chip to improve performance on your motorhome? I don't necessarily feel the need for this but someone mentioned it at the campground I was at this week

They are generally not chips anymore. It is more likely to be a re-flash of your ECM. If you have a turbocharged vehicle, you can get some significant gains. If you have a normally aspirated vehicle, power gains are minimal; although you might gain some benefits in shifting etc.

Also, remember that your powertrain warranty is likely to be adversely affected. If you have a powertrain problem, you are likely to be on your own.

If you do it, and ruin your tranny, I'll bet Allison will say "tough s***" on warranty

See if Cummins can give you a power upgrade. We did it a lot at the truck shop with the oem autherization. They had to make sure the trans, drive train, etc would handle it. Sometimes it's as simple as a reflash. Sometimes turbo upgrade also, sometimes injectors or a combo. Plus it keeps your warranty

How heavy are you loaded that you feel you need more power. I have driven a lot of mountain roads towing a flex with out 390BH-60 and have never felt underpowered.
