As written in a previous post I solved this problem by pulling both furnace fuses. They are H4 and H5 in the fuse panel. This effectively kills the gas furnaces and allows the heat pump to perform without any LP gas involved. You will also need to kill the rear A/C at the breaker box. Depending on your situation it works pretty well. To make this permanent would require one or two 12V switches to control the furnaces when needed. The switches could be added near the fuse panel on the bed frame.

I can now have the heat pump running for extended times with no gas furnace use, and it keeps the bedroom warm too. Outside temperature 47 at night.
