DEF

Is there any difference in the Walmart DEF @ $7.95 for 2.5 gallons vs Blue DEF @ $12.45 for 2.5 gallons?

$4.50. Lol
It is just de ionized water and urea. So is Blue water that much better? They all must meet the same standards for purity. My neighbor and I both use Traveller from Tractor Supply. He has about 200k on the clock and no issues have ever arisen. 100% stock emissions from the factory.

Only thing I know is that you have to be sure the seal is intact when you open the container. I've heard urban legends of people buying DEF, emptying it, then returning container for a refund. I generally fill up at the truck lanes, so no worries.

I only ever used Walmart SuperTech DEF going on 5 years now and never had an issue. My local Wal*Mart turns it over very quickly the Mfg. date is stamped on the container and it has never been more then a month or so old when I bought it

This is the same produce however the most cost effective and easiest way to go is by using the bulk DEF sold at most truck stops.

The cost is a fraction of that sold in the jugs and filling is done thru a convenient meterred hose and nossel

I buy the $7.88 at Walmart - but I *always* check it with a refractometer to make sure it is within spec. I have seen several jugs on the shelves with open seals.

we've used the wmt brand 2 1/2 gallon jug almost exclusively since 2014, and over 100,000 miles with no issues - one brand is not 'better' or different than the other, no more different than bottled water is - is simply a price difference.
Now, I will admit that no matter what you buy, and since the liquid looks just like water, to make the effort to check the SEAL before buying it, as some have commented that some retailers have taken back product for a refund, only to find that the next buyer found that it had been replaced with water. Water will not do any 'damage' to your DEF system, but the system WILL give you alerts and possibly slow you down into crawl mode if it thinks the DEF is not doing it's job. A simple refill with fresh 'real' DEF will solve the issue, if so.

I think most are the same- but what ever brand you buy look up how to read that manufactures date code. ( They are all different) All of this stuff has a shelf life of no more then 2 years.
