Door Latch Rattles!

I have searched and read the other threads on this subject, but everyone seemed to blame other culprits.

When I am underway, my door latch rattles and squeaks (esp. if we have cross winds). I have taken the bolt that sticks out from the wall side and lubed it. It helped and even fixed it for about a day, but then it started again. We just took the coach out for a spin around the city last weekend after winter storage and sure enough, it's rattling/squeaking again. Since it definitely stops when I lube it, I'm pretty sure it's not the screen door, screens, other panels, etc. We tried all the other fixes too.

Any thoughts? I'm not entirely sure this is the factory latch either...let me know if you'd like to see a picture of it and I'll run down to the hanger and take one.

Thanks!

What year/model is your coach? I too have a squeak from the front and have lubed pretty much everything, even spraying the rubber around the door. Turns out that it is the plastic piece next to the windshield that has the tracks for the sun/night shade. Tightened the screws that holds the piece on and it has, so far, stopped the squeak.

Another thing to look at is the door awning. If it is not fully closed it will drive you nuts. I had to replace the awning last year on my other Berk.

I have a 2008 Berk 390QS. The post I'm talking about is mounted to a plate that can move up and down a small amount to allow for body roll/twist I assume.

I had the same issue and it drove me crazy! I finally found the culprit and it was a round metal cover on the front side of the awning for the door. It was not a tight fit and it would rattle while driving. I taped it with black eletrical tape and have not heard a peep since.

Door Latch Rattles!

There are instructions for adjusting the mov-a-bolt door latch to loosen or tighten the door closure. Mine was too tight and would squeak as soon as whatever lube I put on the bolt would dry out. I loosen it one cog on the gear and stopped it.

One one thing to check out if the noise is coming from the front right side.

Check the mud flap inside the front right wheel well. The weld has a tendency to come loose.

Mike, I had the same problem. I noticed the other day that round piece on the front of the door awning is not a tight fit and when the wind hits it must rattle, it was driving us crazy! Just figured it out the other day and taped it as well and no noise any more!
