Drawer slides rust in freezer

When I bought my 2014 coach last year there was a lot of rust on the drawer slides in the freezer. Anyone else have this issue and a solution for taking care of?

What part of the country does it sit in most of the time? Ever defrost it? Dry it?

It is a residential unit, and I bought it in Texas, and the previous owner most likely never let it dry out before storing!

Have you had the drain valve changed out yet?

I do not know about drain valve!! Can simeone send a pic of where it is? I have always wiped down fridge and freezer on my old RV and stored with doors open to prevent mold. Did not notice the freezer slides were rusted until I brought it home last June from Texas.

Mike, if you have this unit with the serial number K333 or lower this service bulletin is to replace the duck bill valve. Call the RV department at 800-545-9086. They don't cover labor anymore. Just the part noted on the sheet.

I'm actually try to get the labor for free! It takes two guys to get my fridge out because it's a 12" above the floor.

To get the rust off the slide rails I would put CLR in a spray bottle and clean it off as best as you can

Please see my write-up under Residential Refrigerator regarding the process to remove the refrigerator, do the warranty work, and reinstall it. It's a 2 man job.

Fred, I took a screen shot and saved it. Had whirlpool tech here today, took one look at it and ran for the hills. Called Whirlpool again and they said I had to make the back of the fridge accessible for the tech to work. He absolutely refused to touch it. I went through great lengths explicitly explaining everything to everybody about the conditions of this unit. Needless to say I'm pissed!

Paul,
What was the problem that the duck bill valve caused? I have noticed a mildew smell from under sink, but can see no leak. I did notice water in basement but not directly under fridge. I can see no water damage or leak when I took off cover under fridge. I thiught these connections might be the problem but they are not.

Freezer defrost collects under the freezer drawer and drains on the floor from under the freezer drawer. It suppose to drain to an evaporate tray behind the freezer.

That is most likely my dampness in basement and why i had the mildew smell by sink area. Will have to wait until winter thaws before investing further.

Paul, mine is on the floor..street side slide over the water bay. And yes, I am back to work and feeling great! Problem is, 7 weeks off makes you start thinking a lot about retirement
