Engine won’t start.

My batteries are all charged. Attempted auxiliary start yet when I turn key I get nothing. This happened a couple times before and I would turn off the key pull it out and try again in the engine would fire right up. Anybody else ever had this issue?

Freightliner had me hit nuetral button till it read NN then try and start and it did!
That was the good news. 1/2 mile later temp went high and check engine then shut engine light came on. I believe I broke a belt. Checked air intake and bot clogged.

Glad you got it stared in neutral. The park switch/relay contact in the transmission that tells the computers that it is in park. Most likely it is out of adjustment or is failing or failed if this happens again. Hope you get the belt fixed and get home safely.

Hope this helps Tim

Hello Mike. Happy you will be on the road again soon. Hope there is/was no other damage caused by the broken serpentine belt. The A/C compressor freezing up is one of the common causes with a the broken belt and hope your mechanic checks the fan clutch as well.

Mike
I had the same problem and found that quickly turning the key to start without a wait immediately after a failed start, would start the engine, but that's no fix.

A factory Allison facility replaced the TCM (Transmission Control Module) at no cost, since the tranny is warranted for 5 years. This fixed the problem.

Around the same time, another FR member had the same problem and fixed at an Oasis Freightliner facility. However, he had to pay because the Freightliner said they were not an Allison dealer.
