Fireplace malfunction

On our way home from Elkhart after a pleasant day at Equalizer. Charles Butler is the Warranty manager there and he and his crew sent us on our way with a hydraulic system that is fine tuned. These are great people that represent a company that is proud of the products they created and, from my perspective, arenít satisfied until everything is right.
Now, here in the Madison/Pittsburg KOA. Itís a little rainy and chilly outside but a good evening for sitting beside the fireplace. The fireplace is not only a great source of heat but it does itís job quietly. Everything went well until I went to shut it down. The remote didnít work so I figured it was a bad battery. I went to the fireplace to shut it down with the controls on the unit. No luck. I had to shut off the circuit breaker at the foot of the bed. That shut it down. I reset the circuit breaker and the remote and controls on the unit worked.
Donít have confidence in a heat source with a potential problem while sleeping so used the furnace instead. Anyone had this problem and have a fix?
Not many hours on the unit.
Thanks

I didn’t experience that but did have an electrical fire in my electric fireplace with our 2021 MiniLite 2205S. Got it replaced under warranty but it does make you think twice.

I do find it unfortunate that once companies started to be run by accountants and virtually all manufacturing was shipped offshore quality and durability plummeted like a lawn dart.

Just curious does the fire place have on/off switch which to turn on first then press another to activate the fire place. Later RJD

Not on mine. It did plug into a circuit that was attached to a load sharing device. That device would shut off the fireplace if the microwave was being used. That being said, the fireplace switch and/or remote should definitely have shut off the fireplace.

As a kid, if something was made in Japan you often would question it’s quality. Over the years that sentiment changed as quality and durability improved.

Now that sentiment has shifted to China. I don’t see it changing like it did with Japan as China operates on a totally different political and social base. As long as the world continues to shop for the lowest price rather than the best quality things can’t change.
