Fireplace problem

A strange thing happened yesterday when I fired up the generator and fireplace in the Berk.
The fireplace started normally, but after a minute, the faux flames stopped, but the faux logs still looked like they were burning. The heat came out normally.
No more "flames"

Has anyone experienced this ?

No...but I would look at replacing the light source which is usually a simple bulb replacement. Also, could be the rotating device which makes the flames stopped rotating.

Did you know there's an adjustment for the Flames underneath the bottom panel?

I think he's in winter storage and is going to fix it in spring. As long as the heat part worked he wasn't too worried.

Bob: Like the reply right after yours (Oscarvan) said, It's not critical. It does heat okay, so I can exercise the generator. I did notice the flames do appear for a bit when I first turn it on, so it's not the bulb(s). Not sure if the cold weather is causing a problem with the mechanics of the roller. Next Monday, we're supposed to be in the upper 50's, So I will probably head out there with the tools. It may prove to be difficult, because I can't take the slide out. I have it covered.

Thanks for checking !!

Ken

It could be the bulb. It could have a broken filament that makes contact until it gets hot. A matter of half a second or so.

The warmer weather has hit !!

I pulled the fireplace out and took it into my basement at home. The rotating motor is fine. It appears to use two L.E.D.'s for a light source. They work, but are pretty dim.

They are soldered on to a small wafer circuit board. So I guess my question to anyone who had been in there, is how bright are your L.E.D.'s. ?

I'm guessing I'll end up going to the Mfgr's web site and seeking tech support on this one.

Thanks to all. Hope you had Merry and Blessed Christmas !!!!

Just got off the phone with the folks at DC Dimplex. They say it's either the controller board or LEDs. Even though it is out of warranty, they are going to send me both just to make sure, at no charge !!

Another good company !!
