First real road trip

We had a really good time. We traveled from Deep South Louisiana to our first stop in Bossier City, La. We parked at Bass Pro Shops and visited the River Walk, then drove to Beaver Dam Campground just north of Minden, La. Kinda of a shakey road getting to it but once there it was very nice. We traveled with some soon to be Berkshire owner friends of ours. If you like being the only campers in a park haha.

The next day we traveled to Catherine's Landing Campground, just south of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Also a very nice and fairly new campground. We spent a couple nights there, did a day trip to town, rode the Duck Boat, visited the Mountain Tower.

Next was the adventure, we left Hot Springs on our way to Petit Jean State Park. My GPS told me to take a left and once I did I was on a road named "Narrows Rd." OMG was that ever a perfect name for a road. Ups and downs, rights and lefts, most of the time all at the same time. I am now confident that I can drive on any road in the US. Then to get to the Park we had to climb a 1 mile, 12% grade with no shoulder and on a road barely wide enough to fit on. I was getting a kick out of seeing people's faces from the oncoming traffic. But again, once there it was well worth the drive. This is a beautiful park, With lots of hiking trails. The DW even got to feed the local wildlife.

Left there and traveled to Lake Chicot State Park in AR. Another really nice place. A little tight getting in our camping spot but no biggie for the Berk. Stayed here just for one night. But will definitely revisit this place with my boat.

Finishing up this trip this weekend at Percy Quin State Park in Mississippi. We've been here lots of times in the past and is one of our favorite campgrounds. The lake is drained right now because of some damage to the dam. But still a great campground.

Over all I am very pleased with the coach. I didn't have any problems with the coach. So much so that my camping buddies are at the local camper dealer working a deal to trade in their present gasser for a 2014 390 RB. I averaged right at 10 mpg through the flats and mountain roads. I found I had plenty of power for climbing and I love the exhaust break for the downhill runs.

We did the rte 40 run from Gatlinburg to Ashville a few weeks ago. What a beautiful drive. Those tunnels were crazy.
