Ammonia type LP fridges have been around for years and for the most part work fine. There are problems with both residential and absorption fridges. The fire issue is real but is a very low risk if routine maintenance is done. I had problems with mine but once it was installed properly it's a great fridge. Residential fridges are not designed to bounce down the road and have had a higher than normal rate of failure. I really wonder why Dometic hasn't come up with a highbred fridge that will do everything. Simple things like locking when the key is turned. Adjustable temp for the freezer.
