Fuel gauge ?????

Just wondering has anyone else had this issue. Stopped and
filled up with fuel. gage was right at 1/4 tank. filled with fuel
and headed out about 15 miles down the road the gage was at
EMPTY.. Dead empty... was only 20 miles from campground so
we went on.
after we arrived I went out checked fuel cap. and shut down
the engine and waited then restarted and the gage reset to
full....crazy never had that happen any ideas.....

Did you by chance leave the key on or coach run while you were fueling ?

Russell In fact I did leave the key on and engine running while I fueled up...
do you think that was an issue...?? Yesterday I filled up again and
since I had to go inside to prepay I turned off the engine and took
they keys with me. Did not have to gauge issue this time...mmmm just
wonder if that could have been the problem..

You don't have to take the key out for it to go down when you burn it up do you? So no, I don't think that has anything to do with OP's quirk. I still think it was a transient thing. I don't think that these are the 50's design resistor float gauges, I think there's a board somewhere, or it resides on a board somewhere, maybe even inside the ECU. There may be a "dodgy" bit of hardware somewhere.
