Generator compartment.

I was having the tires on the Berk filled with nitrogen this weekend and being a type A, I was poking around the generator cavity. I noticed what appears to be a quick connect for an airline on the firewall. I've looked through all the manuals and can't find anything. Any ideas?

Yes, it is a quick connect for an air line. You can use it to fill your tires or anything that needs air. You just need to have the engine running in order to keep the pressure in the tanks up. There is also a quick connect for propane in the passenger side compartment that is just ahead of the large door that is ahead of the rear tires. It is up and to the left.

Two things...... The connectors for the propane and the air chuck are NOT at all compatible, so remember that if you try to buy hose fittings for either.

Second..... IF you do get an air hose for filling tires, etc PLEASE have a really good grip on the hose when you release the chuck coupling. 125 lbs of pressure will blow that hose out of there like a shotgun.

If you're not holding on really tight, you could easily lose teeth, an eyeball or something. Trust me, it truly is like a cannon!!

I moved the air horns out of the way, to provide space for hanging 50 ft of air hose next to the MH's air outlet.

I've got one of those coiled hoses and I store it in the compartment where the generator slide release is located

Don't use it to fill your tires. The air that comes out of it is not compatible with the nitrogen you put in your tires. I think it's a different kind of nitrogen.

The air coupler in your genset compartment is used primarily for towing. If you ever need to be towed the driver will hook his air line to your coupler so your air brakes will have the proper air pressure to keep them from locking up. It is also a handy air source for topping off your tires, bicycles, rafts etc.

Wow now that you mentioned it that makes sense. I always thought it was for airing up none nitrogen filled tires. Never considered towing aspect thanks for the enlightenment.

The primary use of nitrogen in tires is because it is a large molecule and does not seep through the somewhat porous rubber tires. Plain old air is 78% nitrogen. Check out the differences between air filled tires versus nitrogen filled......

Should You Fill Your Car's Tires With Nitrogen?

If you spent a lot of money filling your tires with nitrogen, then do not use the MH's air coupling. Otherwise, the air coupling can be used for topping off your MH's tires.

Since the oxygen molecules in air are "smaller" then over time as the oxygen seeps out and you refill your tires with air to bring them to proper pressure you would tangentially approach having just nitrogen in your tires.

If you ever have to be towed you have to tap into the air system at the air dryer. I know as I have been there. The air source by the generator will not work. Only for airing tires and other user air needs.

There's several "sizes or should I say styles of couplers.
I'd take your coupler off to be sure you get the right one.
