Generator Vibration revisited

I can’t reply to the old post by Dave6716 I think. Sorry Dave. 303 days ago.
Was this issue ever resolved?
I ran the generator while on a short excursion yesterday. Topped off the fuel and ran the coach around a 40 mile loop to burn off any moisture in the engine. The Cummins 8.9 is smooth as silk. I started the generator and could feel it vibrate in the seat of the pants and the steering wheel. It smoothed out somewhat after about five minutes. It still was vibrating more than I would expect from a generator built by a company with their reputation.
So, what’s the fix. The generator only has a couple hundred hours.

Make sure the generator has clean fuel and has been run fully loaded for some time. I would run it a couple of hours at least and see if it smooths out. Lack of hours being run and it sitting with fuel in it can cause problems. the rule of thumb is to load a generator to at least 75% to ensure all moisture and such is removed when exercising it. good luck

Is the generator gas or diesel.

If diesel it's definitely a good idea to load it up while running on a regular basis.

If gasoline it might be time for a fresh spark plug.

Should be a diesel generator as its a diesel coach. manufacture usually try and pair them with the main fuel source of the coach. Also have you checked the rollers that the generator sits on?

Same thing

I have had the same problem for the last two years with my 10k! Generator was pull after a front end accident and sent to Onan to be checked and recertified, came back looking like a brand new one with same problems. Onan insists there in nothing wrong with it! It is also very loud inside the coach, I installed high grade sound barrier material and it helped some, but not enough! Our previous coach with the 8k was so quite we could hardly hear it running inside the coach!

10kw vs 8

So the answer is simple.
We pull the 10 kw and slip in an 8kw.
Problem solved.

We crush the 10, post the crushing on you tube, get a bunch of views to pay for the swap.

Trappfarmer,
Just saw your post. My issue has not been resolved completely, but it is a bit better than it was. Upon inspection, I noticed that my slide rollers (toward the rear of the coach) were not making contact with the frame rail. I re-drilled the holes and mounted the rollers where they should be. This helped a small amount. However, I truly believe that the flywheel or something in my generator was not balanced properly from the factory. I have had many motorhomes, both diesel and gas and have never experienced the vibrations that this generator produces. I guess I have just learned to live with it.

Exercise

I ran the generator a couple last week when we had some warm weather (50+).
With all three heat pumps running I was still below 40% load.
Where do the generators get serviced?
That vibration could be a dirty injector. The problem is: you can’t put an injector cleaner additive in the tank for just the generator.
Thanks for the information on the slide. I’m not going under there. The local diesel truck service has a pit. I think I’ll let them have a look.
You don’t think a squirrel could have gotten up in the gapping hole in the bottom of the generator where it looks like it’s for the cooling air inlet for the radiator do you?

A squirrel or mouse or rat only needs around 1/4 inch of space to get into an area that's what makes it so hard to keep them out of things.

Not sure about the dirty injector idea, it could be, but I would think that the generator would throw a code for something like that. Regarding the squirrel getting into the air intake, anything is possible but I doubt that would cause vibration. Just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions...

Squirrel

I used some rat wire and four self tapping screws to cover the hole.
Use short (3/8”) screws.
