Heat pumps not working

I use my heat pumps in the mornings just to take the edge off rather than burning diesel on my Aqua Hot system. This morning when In turned on the front and rear AC heat pumps nothing happened and no fan either. Any idea why both would fail at the same time? They worked fine the day before.
I have a 2021 Berkshire XL with 3 rooftop AC units and the front and rear both have heat pumps.
Thanks.
Kevin

They won't turn on at all if it is too cold out, say below 40 degrees. The Precision circuits system is involved with that.

Like stated above from Dave, the heat pumps will "lock out" if the outside temperature is at or below 45 degrees. Are there any messages on the Precision Touch panel?

Outside temp is 58, sorry, I meant to add that to the original post.

The bedroom on the touch pad comment space shows the heat pump on and fan on high right now even though everything is turned to off. When I cycle through the fan button, AUTO-LOW-HIGH, the comment does not change.

The living room is also turned off but there is nothing in the comment space. When I cycle through the settings, everything changes appropriately on the screen but nothing turns on.

I would call Precision Circuits and talk to Danny, He is very Helpful. 630-515-9100. Or his email is: D.Dinovo@PrecisionCircuitsInc.com

I would contact Precision Circuits and see if they can help in troubleshooting. Their PH number is 630-515-9100 ext 704 and that will direct you to Danny DiNovo

Thanks for the links I've left him a message. I turned off all power to the coach including the batteries and it cleared the push pad messages but the problem persists. I don't think the brain is communicating with the AC's up top at all and the fans aren all non responsive.

I do not own a coach like yours, but when we had a 91 monaco I had the same problem. The front unit worked but aft unit did not. It ended up being that the RV park pedestal had dropped one leg of the 50 amp ckt. Drove me nuts till I figured out that how they were wired, each had their own leg for power. The leg that was still working powered the plug that made coffee and the TV, the batteries were being charged and we had all the 12v we needed from the converter, had the water heater was propane powered and I did not need to use the micro wave so never thought to check input power. May not be your problem thought I would mention it.

Thanks for the reply. Everything else is working normally and both legs of the 50 amp circuit are fine.

That darn thermostat

Sounds like the thermostat failed.
I would be interested in where that thermostat is located. Also it would be great if you could post a diagram (from precision) of how the system is configured as in interface and components.
This is one of the great unsolved mysteries of the Berkshire species.

Reaching out to Danny at Precision Circuits is the right way to go. He's really good about returning calls so you should hear from him soon. In the meantime, here is something you can try. Touch on the settings gear icon in the upper left corner of the screen, touch the wireless settings tab on the left (should be the bottom one), and then touch the banner at the top of the screen twice. This should take you to the HVAC diagnostics screen - one of the tabs on the left will be "HVAC Reset" - select that and touch the reset button. This essentially "reboots" the controller. Finally, go back to the top tab, select one of the HVAC modules and see if you can turn the fans, compressor and/or heat pump on and off.

Sometimes a reset will fix it, but it depends on the actual problem. On our Berky, the comm cable between the controller under the bed and the first AC unit on the roof failed (likely pinched or punctured somewhere in the wall) which prevented the PPlex system from communicating with any of the AC's. I had to run a new cable out through the bedroom slide to get things running again.

I hope the reset process fixes it for you!

Thanks anaviiator

That was helpful information on the reset/diagnostic. My rear a/c compressor hasn’t been working properly. I knew the compressor wasn’t working because of the low current draw on the digital meters. When using the diagnostic I call for the compressor to be on and I get a buzz from the unit on the rooftop. Could be the compressor failed. Are these a/c units 115 or 220 volts? If 220 I could have dropped a leg.

They're 120v and a buzzing sound does indeed sound like a bad compressor. Are you able to turn the fan on/off using either the diagnostic or regular HVAC screen?

Everything works properly but the compressor. Can the replace the compressor. I gotta look up the warranty. This is a 2020 XL.

I don't know if you can replace individual components on those Dometics or not. We had one fail on our 2020 XLT as well - it would run for a bit and then trip the breaker. The entire unit was replaced under warranty, but our failure was within the 1 year FR warranty period.

I believe the AC are actually Coleman's Mach 10's, we have been using these sense the digital dash.

Ahhhh, gotcha. Our 2020 is one of the very early ones so it's pre-digital dash and has the Dometics. Guess I shouldn't make assumptions.
