I had to replace all my batteries. I wanted to be able to run AC unit with inverter. I sold my magnum inverter for a good deal. So the victron was not a big investment. The solar is a good investment over all.

I think solar and batteries are a good investment for those who dry camp more often, if you are going from pad to pad with full hook ups you might never really see a return on the investment of the equipment... its funny as in different parts of the country people will camp differently... east coast is a lot of pad to pad, while the west coast is a lot more dry camping on BLM land...

Eric is exactly right when comparing West coast vs East coast camping. Not only is it the vast availability of BLM land but also in some places year-round camping vs six months of it if we're lucky here in the East.

You can also make the comparison to C.O.E. campgrounds not found in the North East as you will find throughout the South as well as the density and closeness of National Parks.

If I lived anywhere out West I too would probably consider switching to Battle Born type batteries and roof top solar, or at least a suitcase solar generator set up.
