Little things ( review )

This will seem silly but I didn't like the way my keys were on the key ring that came with the coach. The ring wasn't actually round and just big enough that some of the keys fit on it but would not rotate on it so they would never lay flat when in my pocket or put on a table. Keys sticking out in every direction.

Upon my search for a key ring I came across these

ordered 2, an extra one for the second set of keys I'm putting together.
Seems to work well. Sort of have to twist it into a figure 8 to disconnect / connect. Anyways thought I'd pass my findings on .

I had the same problem Joe, I hate carrying keys in my pockets. I have one set I made with the ignition and both door lock keys. The other set is all the compartment doors.

I also have a set with the two door keys and ignition hidden on the coach accessible from the outside.

Joe, I hope that you wear a belt and suspenders when you carry your keys.
I divide my keys into three locations. #1 - ignition, fuel door, cargo doors; #2 Door key on my car/ house key ring and #3 remainder like the awning remote, fuse door, etc, all stored in the RV.

What other little things are you up to?

Hank I need to post these little things to pry all the info needed for a newbie to become a seasoned RV'er like you other guys. Thanks for the tips !!

Oh I do have a belt and suspenders but haven't needed to wear both at the same time. Yet !!

Those keys are just for the motor home. Don't usually carry any keys on me unless going into a store or someplace where you would lock up and take keys with you.

I'd be happy just having to carry the door keys to motor home whenever I get it out again. If one can come up with an electric key lock for doors I'll be all over that mod also. Hate carrying keys.

Joe, here is a little tidbit: Ehen driving, the driver can check the RV's position within the lane by looking at the painted lines in the side view mirrors and also the rear camera.

I have added a painted dot (with nail polish) in the lower left windshield. When I move the RV to place the dot on the lane's left painted line, my RV is about a foot from the line, This is handy, like when you are in the center lane and a 18-wheeler on both sides and you can't be studying mirrors. Good for narrow lanes as well. I only revert to the dot for critical situations.

I would start by experimenting with some masking tape dots, driving and seeing were they should be moved. Once you have the perfect spot, dab a painted dot there.

That works until you move the seat. I'm never able to get the seat back to the same position.LOL

Agreed, but I don't have the seat problem and it works for me.

I just remembered, that if I would put the dot on the line immediately in front of the RV, then it was very sensitive to seat position. I generally have the dot on the line about 50 ft. in front.

If you look straight out the windshield, you will be in the center of your lane. Maybe 6 to 10 car lengths in front.

I can only imagine the headache I would have focusing on a dot on the windshield.
There is a gap between the speedo / tach module and the left instrument module. Keep that gap on the line to the left of the coach. Use that gap as a check tool to occasionally make sure you are just inside the line on the left.

This works for me too. Figured that out not long after I got the coach.

X3 Paul, I used that originally, but a nice 3/4" bullseye that you can place on the line further out seemed to even work better.

GMTA! We just have different solutions

This is what I got - slightly more expensive than your solution but I want to be able to carry the minimum required keys possible - AND I like the fact that I can take the ignition key off the ring and not have a bunch of keys dangeling on the console

Bob that looks like it will do a good job also. I like your idea about having a single ignition key on a ring to avoid all the banging of keys. I'm still looking for a vendor to get Freightliner ( stock looking ) ignition keys made. Tried FR but they were in excess of 60.00 each I believe ( don't know why not being an electronic key like an auto that unlocks doors and trunk ).

Not to change subject here, but does everyone here always lock their doors? Like if you're just going for a short walk, etc.? If I feel comfortable with my neighbors/surroundings, I will close the door, but not always lock it unless I will be gone for an extended period.
