Mattress swap time…

We are staring to look at mattresses for our coach, have found a company in San Antonio that can custom make a mattress for the drop down bed, so that leaves the King bed and the two side bunks.

Have thought about making a run to the factory to get the new bed setup allowing the head of the king bed to be raised as well.

We have a nice sleep number mattress at home, and have looked at the rv version but not real impressed..

Since after the first of the year we’ll be living 30-50% of the time in our coach, we’d like to get the best nights sleep as we can!

We appreciate any and all input!

If the king bed is the same size as a regular king bed, you can use a regular king Sleep Number mattress. Our friends did that with their queen bed.

As to the bunk beds, measure carefully. We got foam bunk bed mattresses on Amazon, but it took some hunting to find the right size. It probably would have been easier to get them custom made, but we were pressed for time.

Actually, the King bed is an ‘rv king’…and the rv king mattress sleep number makes would require an electrical outlet under the bed…something I’m not willing to do at this point.

We replaced ours with this mattress. It's a little on the firm side but my wife doesn't feel me move when I get up 3 times during the night. Here's a link:

In our old 5th wheel we had a mattress made by Mattress Insider. They were wonderful to help us find the best mattress and size for our RV. They have RV sizes and several different types for comfort. When we traded our old rig in, we left the mattress for the next owner. We kick ourselves for not swapping it out with the new RV's mattress. It is rock hard and total crap. (Serta). FYI, when I did look up the new Serta Mattress, the reviews stated that it is considered an apartment mattress with a 1-2 yr life span. I'm sure we will replace it. In the meanwhile, I did end up putting a foam piece on top of the mattress, which did help a bit.

Linenspa hybrid innerspring and memory foam on Amazon. We love ours. I sleep almost as good as with our Purple mattress at home.

should be a 110 Volt electrical outlets built on the bed base already on both sides. usually they do a good job of blending them in.

Mattresses are available "on-line" shipped to you in a box. Some new technology versions are shipped compressed and can be handled by one person in the box. Open the box and they assume full shape after a few hours. Dormeo is one example that looks interesting.

Comfort is highly subjective. I can't stand memory foam and sleep like a baby on the thin OEM mattress on my 17 year old Roo -- but that's only a few weekends a year.

I bought the ZINUS brand foam mattresses from AMAZON. I got an RV Queen size and one RV bunk size (removed the top bunk in my Wolf Pup 16BHS). If using the trailer OEM size, make sure they list RV in the title or write-up.

One requirement when we are looking for new RVs is that we can use a full size queen in the bedroom. So far, we have always met that requirement. So we just buy two of what we use at home which is currently Tempur-pedic. No problem with sheets or replacements. Simple and comfortable solution.

We got an American Mattress Company 10" Graphite Infused Memory Foam Short King and we love it. It was 2 or so inches shorter than the one that came with our Berkshire 34B but it is nice to sleep just as well on the road as at home.
