Speaking of losing ticket sales. I heard yesterday the US Grand Prix will be back this year in Austin at the Circuit of the Americas. They have lowered Gen Admission ticket prices, food prices and parking prices. (It is about time!!). We went the first year of the race: $1400.00 for tickets, $17.00 for a hamburger (just the burger! Fries were $8.00 extra) $6.00 for a bottle water...... it was pathetic! No, we didn't go back the second year! Now the race coordinators are scrambling trying to sell tickets. That is what happens when you bite the hand that feeds you!!
The price gouging is what happens when there is a bunch of Europeans running the show. I've been to LeMans and Monaco races twice and it's unbelievable the prices charged. A $17.00 hamburger would be a bargain over there. Good thing I was on an expense account.

12 of us used to go to new hampshire every fall- had reserved tickets for ten yrs( in fact that is what got me & dw into camping)camped together-of course partied together. then nascar moved the race back a week in new hampshire, so that chicago had the first race of chase.well one week in the fall in new hampshire is a big difference in temp. Not only that they split the races with kentucky so long story short . 1/2 the racing -same price for us.Now only 4 of the 12 couples still go- we dont anymore.

I definitely like drag racing, especially bracket racing. Don't really care for the F1, LeMans or other "road" course because the view is so restrictive.

How many of y'all camp at the Bristol race? I don't know how many RVs are around the track area during race week but it has to be several thousand. Bristol is a gigantic campout where there just happens to be a race going on. Should be much better for the spring race this year since they moved the date back to mid-April.

Nothing in the world like Bristol. Impossible to explain but you watch the race and feel the race there. You better have good ear protection. Now I gotta go to a night race there.

And we dirt sprint car fans call the drag racers "Zip bang boomers" and Nascar/late model racing as "Taxi cabs"

Real racecars don't have doors/fenders/transmissions or starters.

There is only one race F1. All others are amateurs. Anybody can go straight or on an oval. And yes I am an elitist!

We just spent the week at Daytona 2016. Outside the track parked across the street. Short walking distance. Had a great time there.

That's the same reasons for why I prefer WRC.

Any racing on dirt is automatically better. I would rather go to a local dirt track than most NASCAR tracks. Pure passion and guts. Love it! I think that's why I always liked Tony Stewart. He said he races in the Sprint cup to pay for his dirt racing. If anyone has not been to a dirt track go but sit high and wear old clothes. You won't be sorry.

Especially the World of Outlaws sprints at Eldora (Rossburg, OH) and Knoxville Nationals (Knoxville, IA). 410 CID, 875+ hp, fuel injected, direct drive, 1400# with driver, flat out, never lifting the throttle around the entire track.
