New Allure flooring in our Berkshire

So I finally decided to rip out the carpet in our Berkshire (and most of the linoleum) to include the bedroom. The carpet was just not working with our two dogs - we could never keep it looking good. We decided on the Allure flooring material - the adhesive style, not the snap together. Getting the old carpet out was a job. Literally thousands of staples. The linoleum in the kitchen came out with little effort. The worst area was the bedroom - as I wanted the carpet out from under the bed also. Putting the new Allure down was not difficult, just time consuming. Once it goes together, you have mere seconds to make adjustments. I don't know how many pieces I ended up ruining because I tried to reposition them. I added new floor registers to match the brushed nickel in the coach and had a new piece of carpet cut for the dining room slide with enough left over to make a custom floor mat for the drivers/passenger area. Totally changed the stairs, no carpet - added the Allure and new stair treads. A weeks worth of work - and I'm very pleased. The slides ride well above the flooring as it's 1/3 the thickness of the snap-together style.

You're absolutely right. A damp Swifer mop makes quick work of the motorhome. I said it before but I'm still absolutely amazed at what a couple small mutts can drag inside a motorhome!

1st. We did go to Bradd & Hall to have the front seats replaced and we thank you for the input about replacements. We had Flexsteel #443 installed with a power foot rest on the passenger side. What a difference from the factory seats. Plus the upholstery is so much better.

2nd. How is the Allure Flooring holding up? My worries are the slides, are any marks showing up where they did on old rug?

3rd. We also had the front cap top repainted and clear coated at a local truck shop recommended by the dealer, what a difference.

4th. I am looking into a Shoreline Power Cord Reel, any thoughts?

Good idea on using the stick ons. I would imagine your unit is designed like most campers in that the cabinates are built on the vinyl flooring. If you do not use the stick ons, then you will get curling around the edges and would need to use some 1/4 round or similar.

You've been very busy! That's great. We too think our new Flexsteel seats are 1000% better than the stock ones. My love absolutely lovers her power recliner - often when I look over - she's out like a light! My seat with the lumbar makes driving longer distances easier and safer I'm sure...

The Allure is working great. I find the Allure subject very interesting. From the now hundreds of posts, reviews, forums etc I've reviewed, I find people either love it or hate it. We remain firmly entrenched in the "love it" camp. It is nearing the end of a full camping season and still looks new. We have had zero issues with heat and cooling cycles. We use a Home Depot (ZEP product) that we spray the floor and sort of damp mop it at the end of the day and it cleans wonderfully. As far as the slides and marks, our 2008 slides are well above the floor. The kitchen slide some in atop floor/edge mounted rollers. We keep a large runner (rug) down and it clears it by so much, it does not move the runner. On the dining room side slide, with the old carpet, I would notice slight indentations in the carpet at the three slide rails. The Allure is lower and the three rails clear the Allure by an inch. I bought three rubber entrance mats from Home Depot - thinking I would put those down for the rails to slide on. When the slide is in, I can freely move them - meaning the slide (like the kitchen) is not contacting the floor, at all. I leave them there anyway for bouncing up and down the road but am not sure they are needed.

Once we painted our front cap silver from black, it was like adding another air conditioner up front. It was amazing the difference it made. Glad you got yours done.

As far as shore line reel, I've never thought about adding one. I've read a few posts about them and have looked at a couple rigs with them mounted but nothing beyond that. That 50amp cable can be stubborn sometimes so I'd think mounting the reel into something very solid would be a must...

Just a (Heads up) for anyone that is going to (Store) your unit in a (Cold) area,unheated! Allure will (Contract) end to end in unheated conditions. On very long runs it will Really show. Some joints will still show after it warms up. The Allure was at room temp and properly laid,just something to think about. If like the OP in New Mexico and probably never stored in the Cold,Disregard this Tip! Youroo!!
