New to the Berkshire Family

Just took our Maiden Voyage in our new 2016 Berkshire XL40BH from Ponchatoula LA to Turlock Ca.. 2200 miles in 4 days was a push but she road like a dream all the way home. My family and I are very excited. All went very well. One question how do you keep the Hotwater to stay hot. Our valve is very touchy and you barely move it and it ran cold. Also for about 2 seconds lots gauges but came back on and never had issue again...what might that have been? Any recommendations on top 5 things I should purchase for the coach...

Welcome to the Berkshire group. If you have an Atwood on demand heater replace the shower head with this.

Jetstorm Handheld

A water pressure regulator will not be needed you need water flow to activate the gas, then go to all the sinks and remove the water restrictor
that is in the end of the faucet.
That should do it, you will see vast improvement with the showerhead.

Congrats on your purchase and good luck.

TOTALLY 100% agree that u need water pressure regulator and a surge protector... Both can save u from high dollar issues... TPMS is another 100% as well....

Welcome and enjoy the ride! As for water heater, there are a lot of posts on that here. But the temp gage in the med cab is how much change in water temp you want. So in hot climates you turn it almost all the way to the left. In cold weather much more to the right. If you have it set too high the unit with turn cold and then hot and that tells you to turn down the temp gage more. Once you master it you'll be fine. I also leave water pump on for better pressure and that works too.

Welcome

Almond Farmer welcome to the Berkshire family. We also have a 2016 Berkshire XL BH40 with the 380hp Cumins engine.Keep reading the forum about the tankless water heater there will be many different suggestions as to what to do. I am having the same problem as you with my shower. I think I will end up replacing the shower mixing valve with a temp limiting one. As for what to buy for your coach I will say you need a toad, a tire pressure monitoring system,I have a Garman GPS that I like better than the one that came in the dash, even with the GPS's I love my maps so I carry a road atlas.
Good luck to you and your family, that 2200 mile trip should have taken you two weeks, slow down and enjoy yourself.

Welcome to the forum. Im curious why you went to Ponchatoula from Turlock to purchase an RV. I grew up in Chico and now live in S Louisiana so Im just curious.

PS, I also know the correct pronunciation of Amond, nobody else here does.

Congrats on your new Berk. We also have the XL 40 BH. As to the must have items, I would recommend the following:

EMS (Progressive Industries)
Autoformer (Hughes)
50' 50 amps cord because you don't want to keep the EMS and autorformer out in the open where they can be easily stolen. I put mine in the basement, hence the need to the extra cord.
TPMS (TST 507 RV)
Tire covers
Good waste hose
Water in line cartridge to plug at faucet
Good water hose made for freshwater and also a short water hose to clean the waste hose. I made a 5' hose with leftover hose. You don't want to use your freshwater hose near the waste on your RV....
A folding ladder if you ever want to properly clean your windshield...
Some leveling block to put under the jacks . I made some with 3/4" plywood and 2x4's.
Always carry spare oil, antifreeze, and hydraulic fluid (check specific OEM requirements)
Waterless wash wax by Aero Cosmetics. That stuff is amazing...

PM me if you want to discuss further, I have a lot more stuff on board...

LOL I agree with al the above!

BTW, you can hardwire the EMS & Autoformer int he basement and just use a pig-tail plug to your mains. In fact, in our basement it looks like there is JUST enough room for a cord reel - will look into that in 2017!

Tire Covers (And Windshield and sid window covers): Look into Magna Shade. Yes they look expensive but you DO get what you pay for and these are fabulous! Covers on wheels, windshield, and side windows in under 10 min.

Waste Water Hose: Get a WasteMaster by Lippert - you won't regret it!

X2 on the Wash Wax-All - I use nothing else! Use it on our TOAD & Bicycles as well
