NM US 82 from Artesia to Alamogordo

Pay attention to all of the hazard warning signs on this road. When the say steep and loooong grades that is what they mean, plus <40 MPH switch backs. They also say nothing over 65'. The exhaust brake was used for miles plus regular brakes to keep the engine from revving.

I just drove it from East to West in a 40' pusher. We made it OK but I will not take a motorhome over it again. Plus we just missed hitting an elk!

Safe travels. Ernie

Driving the high lonesome

Were you towing?
Have been on that road while working remote at White Sands. That’s some beautiful country.

Sounds like it would be better drive to make during the late spring, summer, and Early fall months. I know one time I was on a trip where i was headed into the mountains in BC, and got some unexpected snow... Sure will make you rethink some things.
