I appreciate you looking. I did not expect an answer until after happy hour. I figured by then you would be on your knees anyway In any event I know what you mean. I am getting a new knee a week from Monday. What fun to get old.

On my coach the relays were not in a box. They just sort of hung out there. I noticed them when I was putting pin switches on the doors for the basement lights. Saw then forgot about them but four relays and four slides might make sense. I have a 2008. They may have moved on newer coaches.

I'll try to look better this evening. I saw nothing at all in that bay. I did look at a junction box but not in there.
I am waiting until spring to have the left knee replaced and will most likely follow up as soon as possible the right knee. They wanted to do it in January in Michigan but you can guess what I told him to do.

In my 2015, the relay is plainly marked in the 12v fuse compartment in the outside compartment by the driver.

I got my "new" knee in 2011 (best decision I ever made!) The BIG key to getting back to normal is relentless Physical Therapy and- believe it or not - a form of massage known as Lymph Drainage (it is a massage technique that reduces fluid build up around the knee and surgical site).

Best of luck to you--please keep us informed!

And, yeah, it does suck to get old...of course the alternative is even less pleasant

On my pre-surgical physical yesterday doctor went over everything and told me I would be in hospital three days. I told him I needed to get out Wed morning and not afternoon because I had signed up to run a 5K Wed. You should have seen the look he gave me. He said I don't think you quite understand.

Yep, I asked the surgeon if I could play the violin after my shoulder surgery because I couldn't play it before my surgery................ Yeah,they hate that joke!

Another suggestion, you may have broken a shear pin. I had that happen to my back slide in my 3170 Sunseeker. Front slide ok, back slide wouldn't go out more than 2 inches. Turns out I broke a shear pin.

Good luck with the surgery, Silver. Hopefully, your anesthesia team will place a continuous block before surgery, which will aid in your pain relief for the first couple of days. Bama is right on the money, also. You need to be aggressive on your rehab/pt. Regaining range of motion is a key to long term satisfaction.

Ken, I have been following your problem and know that you are probably grasping at straws now. Well here is a straw from just logic:

Since all of your slides stopped working at the same time, one theory would be the ignition lockout that prevents the slides from working when on. In researching the Freightliner schematics (there are no FR schematics - LOL). There is a fused 10A ignition and accessory interface to the body builder (ie: FR). You can start there; checking those fuses.

Since this line is probably only a signal line (not for power), it probably feeds a relay somewhere (only FR and God knows where) that turns on power to the slides when the ignition is off.

Just a straw of a thought.

I still think there is a relay control circuit made by Forest River and not the ignition relay you already changed. When I was doing a install several years back I had the floor of the cupboard up next to the control panel (it just lifts up, no nails) Wires for the control panel come down the wall into the bottom of that cupboard where they go into the wet bay with the water tanks. Check under the cupboard. See where they go through the floor then look in the wet bay. See if you can trace the wires to that four relay circuit I have or where they route to the back of the coach. Somewhere long those lines I bet there is the problem. Loose wire or hidden fuse. Play while we still have the warm fall whether.

If you have the type of fuse box with the LEDs that are supposed to light to show the bad fuse DO NOT RELY ON THE LED to find the bad fuse. On my coach they do not work. Actually pull the fuse and look at it or measure it.

My fuse panel on my fiver is only that. The converter is mounted on the floor behind the fuse panel. Ihas a couple of large amp fuses. Don't know if you may have a similar set-up Also do you have a remote system. If so the remote reciever unit has fuses to feed the switches. That was the culprit when my slides, landing leg motar and stabilizers stopped working.

Along those same train of thought, some time back I found a fuse I could pull to allow the front TV to operate when the key was on, engine running down the road etc.

I first thought that was great. Then I found that the slides and awning would also work with the engine running down the road when that fuse was removed.

Seem the ignition lockout also controlled the awnings and TVs. It's been stated that some of the audio/video is also not working.

So, to test this theory of ignition lockout, you might see if your awning and front TV (if equipped) are working.

I like this. This gets back to my theory of a Forest River circuit. Do you remember which fuse you pulled? Could you take a picture of it and post for kenny? I think you both have same year coaches. Maybe he can disable the circuit by pulling the fuse to gain slide access and at least close things up.

As for Silver's thought in tracing wires, I have seen telephone guys trace wires with a tone generator. One thing I do not have, but may be a worthwhile tool. Here is one that I found:

I would think that you could pull the slide switch panel off, check for voltage (should be none) and inject the tone. Then trace the tone.
