I found a cover made for TVs that are kept outside or under a patio. It fits great, keeps water off and also had a pouch in the back to hold my remote.

Outdoor Entertainment Compartment

Rich, this is the mount I used, it's less than 2" when it closed! The tv is a 39" Vizio, it's the only one I could find that would work in that opening, Not gonna lie it's a snug fit. But it works great! Found it on amazon.

Nice install glevron. I however would like to caution you and anyone mounting anything on a cantilever. With RV parked, everything might be great however when on the move going over bumps, even a light weight item is going up and down like on the end of a pry bar. Eventually, it will take its toll.

I suggest that you place some ridged foam under the TV when travelling.

IMHO any fix other than that external flap. It looks cheap.

I guess if it solves the problem, but I'm not crazy about the look either. It will be my last resort if needed after I try a couple of other strips.

Well, not my favorite look either, but I got it, so I'll flaunt it

I have the same water issue on my fuse box compartment below the drivers window. Water leaks at the hinge and puddles at the bottom of the door. Looked at three different units when buying mine and all three had the same problem with water pooling in the same spot, one even appeared to cause the door to begin to rot.

I don't open that door much but noticed a lot of water when I did.

I-RV, when the tv is closed its sitting on Velcro pads on the flat ledge above the radio. It's a tight fit & no weight on the mount!
