Pantry cabinet lock

Hello all,
So we have a 2022 Berkshire XL 37A. Our understanding of how the pantry cabinet lock works is that it automatically locks and secures whenever you drive. It unlocks when you stop and park. On our first few outings everything was fine but recently the cabinet flew open while I was driving. We’ve tried everything, the coach on and in drive, the coach on and in park, the coach off, etc. We’ve tried pushing the blue lit button, holding it for a time. We can hear what sounds like the locking mechanism engaging but it doesn’t lock. I’ve looked in owners manual and online and can’t find any info about this. Does anyone have any helpful info on this?
Thanks,
Ralph

has anything shifted on the cabinet? I wonder if the latch on the bottom of that cabinet is actually striking to engage the lock.

Hello Eric,
No shifting that we are aware of. As I mentioned, the lock worked properly during our first few outings but has recently been opening while driving. I’m wondering if we unintentionally did something to change the setting. If not, we’ll have to get it looked at and repaired.
Thank you for your response.

Here are the steps to diagnose the Pantry Latch.

Is the light for the pantry release button illuminated?
Yes, Most likely the connector has come loose from the electric latch. The pantry latch can be accessed & released from a hole in the top of the base cabinet.

NO - is the indicator light on for the CO detector?
No, check the 5A circuit breaker in the House Battery compartment for the CO detector.
Yes, Turn on the Chassis Ignition, is the light for the pantry release button illuminated?
Yes-check power to the Pantry Latch relay in the Front Elec Center.
No-Check the 15 position Amp connector located behind the fireplace.

A picture of the connector would help greatly. Have you checked the fuses under the driver window in first compartment? check fuses F16 and F23

I hope these pictures come through. You can see that my override light is working but but the light is off otherwise. Also, my Eurobed is not working. The connector behind the fireplace is difficult to see because the phone style connector is in the way. Fuse F16 the 20 AMP was already changed out for a new one with no help. F23 is labeled SPARE.

I would start by checking fuses F16 and F23 in the front electrical compartment under the driver's window

Yes I replaced F16 and checked F23 even though it is marked as a spare.

try hitting the lock/unlock button on the keyfob (lock then unlock then lock and unlock) and see if the overhead bed works. There is also a fuse in the mulitplex for the bed lift. F026

the door lock idea didn't work. All of the fuses check ok. By chance are there any wires common to the pantry and drop down bed at the pantry switch? I'd need to pull out the refrigerator to check.

On your 12V Panel under the bed base, check fuse FO26. It is the power circuit that enables both bed lift & the pantry latch. If the fuse is good, the next step is to make sure the signal is getting to the Bed lift & pantry latch inhibit relays in the front elec compartment.

Eric B FR Diesel or Lincman983 could help you locate & diagnosis the inhibit relay operation.

If the OP is hearing the pantry latch making a motor or whir type noise, then it is getting power. I would check the cabinet while the parking brake is disengaged and see if they can hear the latch grabbing the pin on the pantry pull out. The pantry latch or drawer may need adjusted as it might not be engaging the pin. Also, if the blue override switch is lighting up i would check the plug on the back of the pantry latch. There is an access hole in the pantry pull out.

Mike,
Check out ecn1804. It's a harness change for the pantry latch. In it you'll see the pantry latch & bed lift enable are both triggered by a yel/blk (fcss?) wire. This circuit is a active high from the prec-plex when the park brake is engaged.
If this circuit doesn't go active high a couple things happen. The relay that locks out the bed lift while driving, continues to disable the bed lift.
The pantry latch is a little more layered.
There are 2 power sources for the pantry latch (coach battery & ignition), the fcss signal controls which power source drives the latch. It also seems the release signal to the latch when the park brake is set.
Even though there is power to the latch & the switch (latch released & sw blue light illuminates), the latch is in a "stalled" state. The latch has to be in a latched state when the power cycle occurs to lock. Since the latch never sees the lock signal from the prec-plex, it's stalled released.
Hope it helps,
