Patio Awning chatter

Anyone else seen this? The patio awning chatters when retracting. the noise is coming from the contact between awning material and the crossbar at the arm joint. Is there some way of lubricating the crossbar. the awning hasn't been used that much as the Beast (2020 XL 40E) only has 3500 miles due to Covid and other medical issues.

I have 2 awnings on my coach and both make the chattering noise on retraction. 2 years ago I had Carefree the maker of the awnings check it out and their technician adjusted the awnings but they still chatter. The tech said that the chatter was considered normal.

Are you sure it’s not coming from the gas shocks. Mine made the same noise. I cleaned the shock tubes. Then I sprayed a clean rag with silicone spray lube and wiped the shocks with the rag. The problem went away.

X2. My A&E Dometic awnings gas shocks chatter also. Just wipe the rods off with WD40 on a rag and they stop chattering until the dust and grime builds back up. Depending on how often and how long the awnings are deployed you may have to do it once a month.

You got it I just figured the silicone spray wouldn’t attract dirt.
Funny the tech couldn’t figure that out.

Struts. Huh.

So they’re not going to snap in half? And the fabric isn’t going to tear?

Thanks for the answers

I used an Amsoil lubricant spray on the gas struts. This is what I wiped off on the paper towel. There was a ridge at the end of the shaft travel that I removed with a little effort.
The crossbar at the center hinge of the control arms was tacky on top where it meets the awning material. I used a silicone spray and paper towels to wipe off the excess and the tackiness.
Very smooth at this point.
