Portfolio extended coverage

What do you think of extended warranty coverage. My dealer offers this for 2700.00 for 7 years.

IMHO a complete waste of money.

Be SURE to get the 2nd year warranty for 150 bucks.
Your "so called" dealer will NEVER tell you about it.

oops; my bad; you have a motorhome.
The "Rule of Thumb" might be different for them.

Can you get an extended warranty from the chassis manufacturer.

It may help to state what kind of RV you have or are contemplating getting. For me with my TT I thought a 3rd party warranty was a waste of money. however since my TT was purchased new, I bought the FR extended warranty for $150

It may say what is covered but find out what is NOT covered. I have seen many posts where a part failed that took out something else, that something else was not covered. Also, $2700 for 7 years seems too cheap. I have seen where posters paid a lot more for the coverage. Check it out carefully.

How or where do you get the 2nd year warranty for 150 bucks?

This is why I don't recommend extended coverage past the FR 2nd year warranty for campers.

Almost NOTHING is actually covered. Most items that would fail have their own individual warranty that exceeds the 1 year of the basic unit. For example the roof material is warranted for 10 years.

Additionally they will not cover anything that is even remotely YOUR fault.

Leaks for example are not covered under warranty since you need to check your roof every 30 minutes or so with a Dicor gun in your hand according to the underwriter. They are very creative about blaming you for poorly designed stuff that breaks.
