Running cable into Coach

Looking for recommendations on routing a WiFi extender cable from the back ladder (the top half) of my 34QS. I plan to mount the antenna on the ladder and somehow get the cable into the coach the cleanest way possible. Any and all suggestions are welcome....Mike

Couple of ways if our coach has the access -

Some refrigerators have vents on the roof, you could run your antenna cable in UV Protected Wire Loom affixing it with Dchor or eternabond tape ever 3-4 feet to the roof, fun the cable down through the refrigerator vent and inside your coach No holes drilled

You could (if you have solar in stalled use the same chase that they used for the Solar Cables (again make sure to run your antenna cable in UV Protected Wire Loom affixing it with Dchor or eternabond tape ever 3-4 feet to the roof

You could drill your own hole. gat a plastic gang box run affi the gang box to the roof with dhichor, run your cables through that, makes a good water sear. (see video)
again you could run your antenna cable in UV Protected Wire Loom affixing it with Dchor or eternabond tape ever 3-4 feet to the roof,

How about down the ladder and across the bottom and come up through some existing hole?

Sure I thought about that too, that is certainly possible and okay

still use wire (UV is thicker so it will protect the exposed portion and the portion under the crriage from road grime & rocks) loom to protect the cable, find your entry place fish your wire, and seal up your entry hole with caulk or spray foam

I'm not fond of running wires through vents such as a fridge exhaust. Why? Wires have a freakish way of conducting water like a wick or even a siphon. I said freakish. It may not happen to you, and it does not happen to many. But if it does, this would be a silent leak down into the fridge cabinet, and a lot of damage could happen before it's discovered. I'd highly recommend a gland or the junction box with glands attached. https://www.renogy.com/cable-entry-h...0aApzPEALw_wcB

Use butyl tape under the gland to seal the gland to the roof membrane. Use Dicor self leveling sealant around the gland and over the hold-down screws to ensure no conduction of water by the fastening screws.

An advantage of a gland is that you get to locate it precisely where you want it, and this allows you to route wire down into a pantry or clothes closet, etc., and then mount your device to the interior or exterior of the cabinet...whatever you need. You also get to choose to locate your device close to power.

WiFi Cable

I mounted mine in the center of rear fiberglass cap, cut hole on cap, mounted the 4 screws for antenna mount, dropped cable down through fiberglass cap area, caulked, removed engine/radiator light fixture to drill another hole up through the center of area were light fixture mounts(be careful not to cut light fixture 12volt wires), fished around for the wifi cable to pull through hole, reinstalled light fixture, after I got it pulled down I remove floor shelf in rear closet, now figure out by lots of triple measurements where to drill hole down to feed cable back up to closet area, hung wifi box on wall in closet, plug in wifi box into 120volt outlets in closet for washer(that outlet is only live when plugged into pedestal so if you want it live while driving then you need to power by a invertor outlet instead), I have wifi in my car "on" as we tow it down the road so I hooked into an invertor outlet.
I hope this makes sense.

Just thought I'd throw my hat in the ring...

I would not mount the antenna on top of the rear ladder... I did that once with a cell booster antenna. It didn't survive the first low-hanging tree branch it encountered.

I reworked it (after buying a new antenna) so that it is now mounted on a retractable flag pole. When I'm driving, it's behind the coach. When I camp, I can stand on the ground and get the antenna 25' in the air. Works great!

I would mount it directly above rear closet, drill straight through into closet and cover hole with base of antennae. Seal around antennae and your good to go.

this is what I've done, two options, ... it depends on which side of the rv you want to enter on, I use the propane hatch on the "front" side to bring our ladder mounted aftermarket antenna cable into the trailer, ... didn't have to drill an extra hole thru the side of the trailer, ... and to come thru on the "back" side I installed another one of those hatch covers, I didn't want to drill thru the side, so I mounted it on a storage door, ... there, if I didn't like the results, I could easily replace that door and I wouldn't have a permanent hole thru the side, .... on the back side, I use that hatch cover to bring an extension cord into the trailer and at one time also a WIFI extender cable which never was worth a hoot, ... the pics also show how I mount the antenna pole to the ladder, easy snap into place, easy remove, ...

Fella10 - I like this as well. I see the clip link. What did you use to attach to the ladder?

thank you, ... 3/4" conduit hanger from Lowes(link below), this setup works great and is so easy to put up and take down the poles, ... the yellow pole is 24ft painters pole also from Lowes, used for our tv antenna, ... I also installed the same hanger setup on the other side of the ladder for a WIFI antenna, mounted on a 12ft pole from WM, but that antenna proved to be useless, ... so my ladder has them on both sides and they can be used for any number of pole uses, such as flag pole, ect, ...
