Slide out plates
Has anyone had the plates for under our slides installed? My 2014 390BH bunk / wardrobe slide became unaligned. Apparently the bottom of the slides are soft wood and the rollers dig into the wood messing the slide alignment up. Randy and his team at FR know about the issue and sent aluminum plates that will mount under my slide to fix the issue. I just dropped the coach off today to get them installed and was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or the plates installed. Highly recommend looking under all of your slides when the are out and see if they are doing the same as mine.

No, as soon as I mentioned it to Randy he sent them to my local dealer with no questions asked and they are being installed at no cost.

I just looked at mine and the wood where the slides rollers pass looks indented. The slide still looks like it's lined up properly, but it is making a creaking sound when I operate it.

The way I knew mine was not aligned anymore was by looking at the rubber weather flaps that contact the sides of the slide when opened. My fwd bottom flap overlapped the side a lot but the fwd top one didn't even make contact with the side of the slide. Then it was opposite on the rear of the slide. The top of the slides flap was tight and overlapped but the bottom barely touched the side of the slide. They may have to use two plates on the rear roller to even it out more...

I would tell them you want stainless steel. Alum. could cause black streaks.

Not sure I have that option... Forest River already have the plates pre made due to the known issue. Hopefully they won't be an issue.

On that slide the rollers are stationary so they should not mark your floors and the plates will not come in contact with the flooring.

You are probably right, but my concern would be the strength of the Alum. compared to stainless going over the roller plus alum will turn black depending on the material it self. I would think 18 ga or 16 ga would be needed to hold a slide up. But that's just my opinion. But on the other hand lets hope for the OP they will be strong enough, after all this is FR....

Plates are installed and they only had the coach one day! Pretty impressed.
Now the down side, it did not fix my unaligned slide issue! Apparently it's not my slide that is mis-aligned but the actual frame the slide sits in. My local dealer is contacting Forest River to get the approval to fix it. They said it is a easy fix but once they move the slide frame, they will have to re-paint some of the coach! Or I could just live with it the way it is since the inside seals are all good and and it never leaks and no one would ever be able to tell except me since I know it's not straight... Guess we'll see what FR says...

I would say no thicker that 1/16 of an inch. They installed five of them (1 for each roller for the slide) I will post pictures once I get home from work.

Looks to be at least 9 ga(0.1144") or 10ga (0.1019"), should be plenty thick enough to prevent any denting from the rollers. Surprised FR used that thick of material and even counter sunk the holes to use flat head screws. Good job FR.

I emailed Randy about mine, will report back on his reply when I get it.
I think that will help a lot Jason. Sorry it wasn't the total fix, but at least here is another great example of FR standing behind their products.

Much thicker then I thought they would have put in, that should work good with the rollers. Only thing I would have liked better would have been better if it was stainless steel. But that should work fine. If it is 10 ga. as OC said form the picture only, they must have had to adjust the slide to. Good work from your dealer and FR.
